It’s our final day of villa hunting for The New Perspective Retreat in Senegal and we haven’t had much luck til now 😅 Maybe @nushcope walking on poop might bring us luck?! 😂 Some villas have been beautiful but they didn’t have enough rooms, others have been to remote, and some just didn’t fit with the Nuka vibe… it’s been stressful. We’ve got a final villa to go see… Will this one be the one?! 👀 Either way, this business has been such an unexpected project and came at an unexpected moment. But it’s brought me so much joy. Working with my Nush has been the absolute best. Honestly having her over the last few months has changed my life in so many ways and I couldn’t be more grateful. So I hope we’ll have lots of people booking, but whatever happens, we’ll of had the best time on this journey together. Ps: If you want to see more of our Villa hunt vlogs, or you’re just interested in joining our retreats you can follow @nukaretreats ! Love Ninka x

What if I learnt to float? Just for a minute. What if I got on my back and just floated for a while. Let the sea carry me. Just until I got my strength back. Regrouped. And tried again. Learning to float, learning to pause, learning to take a moment. It might just save me time, strength and headspace. It might allow me to listen to the voice inside trying to guide me. It might just help get me to shore. Perhaps it’s closer than I think, easier than I imagined. Maybe I could find my way if I just learnt to float.. Note to self: Taking time out isn’t counter productive. In fact, sometimes it can be the most productive thing you can do. It can help get you unstuck. It can give you fresh eyes, a new lens and a different perspective. You might even see something that was right in front of you all along. Take a break, change your thoughts and come back to it. It might just work wonders for you ✨

I believe that to understand Amapiano, you need to understand the people making it. So what better way than one of the countries and the genre’s greatest artist ? In this episode of CNN’s Inside Africa, we dive into @focalistic ’s childhood, the adult he’s become and how his parents gave him the voice to become one South Africa’s biggest ambassadors. Catch this episode on @cnn on Friday at 17:30 GMT.

In the moment, it can feel so much easier to choose the devil we know. To choose safety even if it’s in places that keep us sad. Because happiness, growth, change can be scary, uncomfortable and hard. And the path isn’t always clear. We don’t always know where we’re going. But you deserve more. And the world deserves to see more of you. So please fill your cup and change your life.

In 2006 Moustapha tried to leave Senegal by fishing boat to reach Europe. Many died on that boat. In fact, most people we met had lost someone they loved trying to reach the other side. Today Moustapha made it his mission, through his association to try to stop young men from leaving and trains them in new career paths. The frustration and the irony is that 100 metres away from shore you could see huge Spanish and Chinese fishing boats. The Senegalese with their small fishing boats are left with no fish, scrambling to bring any money home. Europeans are fighting against immigration and yet are undermining the economy of countries like Senegal, giving them no choice but to try and make it through (knowing they may lose their lives) to Europe. In the media we love to show the immigrants trying to get to Europe, but never the WHY they do. Europe needs to take responsibility. In the last scene, the young children in schools had made a book to give to the European union to help prevent more deaths at sea. Thank you to @christophcherry and @guardian for opening my eyes. Ps: if anyone wants to donate to Moustapha’s association you can do this here: /f/reduce-migrant-death-in-west-africa
