“And because these daft and dewy-eyed dopes keep building up impossible hopes impossible things are happenning every day”
- Whitney Houston
I truly don’t think I have words that are adequate enough to describe how I feel in this moment. For years, Miss USA was always something I watched but never participated in. I watched
@deshaunabarber be crowned Miss USA and thought how amazing it was that she looked like me. I watched the late great Cheslie Kryst as she reigned during such a historic year with other Black national and international titleholders. And most recently, I watched
@minebyjas literally DOMINATE in Miss USA, and in a gown inspired by Beyoncé (which I recognized immediately because if you know me… i’m hive DOWN😂👑🐝)
The day of finals, I thought to myself “There’s no way three Black girls are going to be crowned in a row.” With that in mind, I went into the competition with ZERO expectations and with the goal of just having fun because I literally thought winning would be impossible. Well I guess the impossible, is possible. For the first time ever, Pennsylvania has crowned THREE Black women in a row, and I’m honored to be following in the footsteps of
@billie_larae and
@minebyjas and being a part of history. And what made this moment more special is the fact that I got to wear MY CITY across my chest with pride. Philly, I hope I made y’all proud!

I say all this to say, I’m incredibly honored to joining the
@procprod family and a legacy of strong, beautiful women. Thank you to EVERYONE who has supported this journey, especially
@niamichele for coaching me through this and drying my tears,
@thepointedancestudio_ ,
@gracedancetheater , and most of all my family, friends, and my momma (who dried even more of my tears). I’m so grateful for all the confidently beautiful women I met this past weekend. It was TRULY a pleasure to get to know all of you.
I cannot believe I get to say this but I’M GOING TO MISS USA! ahhhhh
