These two poses were chosen with such intention.
Inverts & shoulder mounts are introduced at the intermediate level in the NPDS curriculum. Given that I have recently started instructing intermediate classes, I’ve had many conversations with students who really want to get both of these.
What is interesting about teaching both Beginner & Intermediate is that I see for myself how I can help improve strength in class at the Beginner level without taking it too far. Over time, this will help the Beginner students become more prepared for Intermediate because let’s be honest, it is a significant skills jump, but please don’t let that deter you as you grow when you’re challenged.
My conditioning part of an Intermediate class is probably the most difficult for this level of the whole class. I am specifically conditioning these two moves in non-traditional ways which will help reach the end goal of inverts & shoulder mounts. Time will tell how successful the conditioning is that I’m providing however consistency is the key no matter what.
