For Adriano, a fit and healthy young dad, his cancer diagnosis came without warning. “It was all a big shock finding out that I had a type of cancer,” he says. At the ONJ Centre, he underwent chemotherapy to treat the large tumours in his heart. “The mental challenge is real during treatment. So having that wellness offering (at the ONJ Centre) was incredibly important,” Adriano shares. “I put my faith in the experts,” he reflects on his trusted team at the ONJ Centre. “And here I am today.” Support patients like Adriano by joining Olivia's Walk for Wellness. This National Volunteer Week, we are thrilled to highlight the remarkable contributions of our volunteers. Meet Jan, a dedicated volunteer who brings warmth and positivity to our Day Oncology and Wellness Centre every week. With a background as a social worker spanning 30 years, Jan chose to volunteer as a patient companion to stay connected with her skills and continue helping others. Jan shares that every shift is filled with special moments, from listening to patients’ stories, to brightening their day with a cup of tea or coffee. Volunteering has been unexpectedly rewarding for her, proving to be as beneficial for her wellbeing as it is for the patients she supports. Read more about Jan's inspiring journey and the impact of her volunteering at the link in bio 💚
