Details on Episode 1 of my Out n Back Series - a day trip from Washington, DC to Fort Lauderdale!! Flight info: We booked flights about 3 weeks ago during @southwestair 40% off sale. Our flights were $120 for the first flight out of DCA and the last flight back. Timeline: - 4:30am - called uber, arrived to @reagan_airport at 4:45am - 5am - went through security, boarded, and our flight took off on time at 6am - 8:30am - landed at @fllairport and called an Uber to the @nanoufrenchbakery on Las Olas Blvd - 9am - grabbed coffees, and walked north up Central beach - 9:30am - stumbled across the cutest @archibaldsvillagebakery and grabbed a morning glory loaf and blueberry scone - 10am - headed to the beach, enjoyed our pastries, read, and relaxed. We posted up on the beach right near the Conrad Hotel. - 1pm - took a short walk over to @gratefuljuicebar for acai bowls - 1:30pm - headed back to the beach for the afternoon - 4:30pm - the sun started to set and we walked about 1.5 miles down Sunrise Blvd to @publix for a pub sub - 5:30pm - walked over to @razzleberrys for ice cream - 6pm - called an uber back to FLL, went through security which was a breeze, and caught our 8pm flight home - 10:15pm - landed on time at DCA, called an @ridealto , and was home by 11pm!! Details on Episode 18 of my Out n Back Series - a dog-friendly day-trip exploring Frederick County in @visitmaryland 8:30am - Arrive in Cunningham Falls State Park @marylandstateparks (about a 1.5 hour drive from DC or Annapolis). We took the lower trail + cliff trail loop to see the Falls (a little dried up due to summer heat) and then explored the beach area. 9:45am - Got fresh fruit from Pryor’s Orchard market on our way out of the park (near @catoctinnps ) 10:15am - Head to downtown Frederick @visitfrederickmd ! Started at @frederickcoffeeco for speciality iced lattes, walked down to Carroll Creek, grabbed sandwiches from @southmarketsandwichco for a picnic later, and explored downtown. Many of the shops in downtown Frederick are dog-friendly, with treats + water bowls - they loved visiting @frederickfirerescue and @vintagemcfrederick !! 11:30 - Headed over to Baker Park, a beautiful green space in downtown Frederick with pavilions for lunch, a pond, and more! We brought a bocce set to play on the courts. 12:30 - Drove through Middleton to South Mountain Creamery @smcdairy - the dogs are allowed on the self-guided farm tour featuring cows, calves, and sheep! We ended the visit with their homemade ice cream - the Snallygaster flavor with peanut butter ice cream, pb cubs, Oreos, and caramel was unreal 2:30pm - Visited Washington Monument State Park - home to the first monument dedicated to George Washington with a beautiful overlook 3:30pm - Experienced Spook Hill in Burkittsville, MD (I posted a full reel about this rumored supernatural phenomenon) 4:15pm - Ended the day in the Sugarloaf Mountain area with a visit to the @thecomusinn x @vanishbeer garden! 7pm - back home!! The dogs absolutely loved this Out n Back adventure through Frederick County and everywhere we visited was very dog-friendly. Questions about the trip? Took a quick pit stop on today’s Out n Back to the Frederick, Maryland area… Spook Hill is a hill in Burkittsville, Maryland on a stretch of road located near the battle site of Antietam. It’s know for a strange phenomenon where if you put your car in neutral while at the base of the hill, ghosts of civil war soldiers will push it back up the incline. We tried this today & experienced it first hand - so surreal!!! Directions on how to get there… from the downtown square in Burkittsville, drive NW on Main St/Gapland Rd. You’ll head uphill and pass a large red barn on the left. Drive past the barn, over the crest of the hill, and almost to the bottom of the hill on the other side.
