Weston appreciation post this morning! 🙌🏼 I failed as a mother and posted nothing on his birthday in June, but because the summer was so busy, his birthday celebration was stretched out for weeks! 🤣 I honestly can’t overstate how much fun this year has been with Wes. The level of growth and maturity I have seen in him in almost every every of life has been wild, and I’m so excited for him and this new school year. Loving this stage of life! 💙

Happiest 15th birthday to my sweet daughter. 💕 She is so delightful, joyful, funny, and quick-witted and I absolutely love all the time we get to spend together. It has been such a fun weekend celebrating her!! ❤️❤️
This year, Wes started at a new school and joined a basketball team of incredibly talented boys who had been playing together as a team for many years. It has been a lot of fun to watch this team who plays with so much skill and drive, and also to watch Weston develop new friendships, learn their plays and fight to earn a position on the team. Tonight, they won their league championship, which they worked hard for and was well-deserved. So so proud of this kid on literally every level. 🤍💚🖤

Day 5 (a bit behind schedule): I’m super grateful for the kids and families represented in these photos. While we were homeschooling, my kids had the opportunity to crash our friends’ homeschool every Wednesday for cooking day. “Mr. D” gave lessons on French culinary arts and cuisine and got my kids to try things they never, in a million years, would have tried if I asked them to. 😂 Most importantly, it was a great mid-week break every week to shake up the routine, spend time with good friends and do something more creative and practical. I’m so thankful for the Dessaignes welcoming my kids in week after week, and for the memories they built in this class this year. 🧑🍳👩🏻🍳🍳•

Day 4: During the 2021-2022 school year, we did something I never, in a million years, thought I would have been doing. We homeschooled. There were many factors that brought us to that decision, but things that were brought to light in their public school education during COVID and the constantly changing schedule were at the top. People always ask…how did you do that and work?! It actually made working full time easier. I set the curriculum and schedule; therefore, the kids were suddenly home every day, doing exactly what we had planned. No more last minute calls from the school that they had been “contact traced” and would need to quarantine for the next 2 weeks, requiring me to completely rearrange my work and travel schedule. Because they are older, most of their work could be done online and we had a lot of flexibility when it could be done.

Homeschool was not without its challenges though. I don’t have any pics of Wes to share because he didn’t approve any of them 😂 but he always came in with the “entertainment” (often “distractions” lol). 🤣
I’ve always been incredibly career focused, and still am. Between remote learning during COVID and homeschooling, it has definitely made it more challenging to balance all the demands at times. But my kids will always be the top priority…and it has been such an amazing and unexpected gift that I will be forever grateful for to have had this time at home with them - working and learning together - during these years.
