Do you know the Scissor skills milestones? Do you know what age that skill develops and how? does cutting straight lines comes before cutting across? OT Park is here to help you get that info!! (Please save this post!)
Here you go 🙌🏼
1. 2-3 Years Old: • Begins to show interest in cutting. • Holds scissors correctly with adult assistance. • Opens and closes scissors with two hands.
2. 3-4 Years Old: • Starts to cut a straight line. • Can make snips in paper. •. Begins to hold and manipulate scissors more effectively, using one hand.
3. 4-5 Years Old: •Cuts along straight and curved lines within 1/4 inch of the line. • Cuts out simple geometric shapes like squares and circles. • Shows improved control and coordination.
4. 5-6 Years Old: • Cuts more complex shapes with better accuracy. • Cuts out shapes along dotted lines. • Can cut and turn the paper to stay on a cutting path.
5. 6-7 Years Old: • Cuts complex shapes and figures with good precision. • Uses scissors for detailed craft projects. • Demonstrates mature scissor grasp and hand strength.
These milestones can vary depending on the child’s individual development and opportunities to practice. Encouragement and providing age-appropriate scissors and materials can help children develop these skills effectively.

Do you know that Pencil skills need to be worked out? Here are some amazing ideas that we love using at OT Park to help your child develop pencil skills and be better at writing!! Did you like this info?
Did you know proprioception is a crucial sense? It’s the body’s ability to sense its position, movement, and actions, often called the “sixth sense” because it works largely outside our conscious awareness.
Proprioception lets us perform coordinated movements without needing to watch our limbs. It provides feedback to our brain about the location and movement of our body parts relative to each other and the environment.
This sense is vital for everyday activities like walking, typing, or even standing still, helping us maintain balance, posture, and movement control. It relies on sensory receptors in our muscles, tendons, and joints to send information to our brain about muscle stretch and joint position.
At OT Park, a sensory integration clinic, we prioritize individualized OT plans to support this essential sense.
And hence sharing our favorite Proprioception activities here! These are most loved and most experienced activists and helps child to regulate their Join sense more effectively during OT Park sessions 🙌🏼🙌🏼
