Text or “Thoughts” on clothing have been around for years, it’s a design element that seems to be timeless, in fact, it’s more so the words themselves that can have a expiration date or become “cringy” between generations.
But why do we wear clothing with messages on them? Who are we trying to communicate with? - Anyone who will listen? Are we trying to subconsciously attract our tribe of people as we walk past them in the street without needing to exchange small pleasantries before getting to a topic that matters to us?
The ironic nature of this is almost laughable - the fact that we all must begrudgingly engage in small talk to get to know someone, but wearing such deep messages on clothing suggests we all collectively despise it?
However, there is an element of beauty here, because no doubt when you put a piece like the above on, there is someone in your mind who you wish you could wear it in-front of and have them get the message, but ironically when you wear it, they never know, but you feel like you tried - and maybe that’s enough for us as humans to feel better about a situation.
Anyway, here’s some great pieces with equally great messages written on them.
