Today, we kick off our capital campaign, inviting you to join the revival of The Iron Horse—a beloved venue in downtown Northampton steeped in music history. Last week, we gathered to witness the inaugural song since the Parlor Room Collective acquired the business. The voices of Board Member Harris Paseltiner of @darlingside , Executive Director Chris Freeman of @parsonsfield , and Board Member and songstress @kimayadiggs , marked a significant new chapter for this local gem. To bring this vision to life, we need to raise $750,000 for vital upgrades: improved accessibility, staffing, and backend enhancements. Your contribution, big or small, plays a pivotal role in making this revival a reality. Donate today and help us reopen our doors by Spring of 2024. Please see link in bio to make your tax-deductible donation. The Iron Horse, once the heartbeat of downtown Northampton, holds a rich history and an intimate atmosphere. Proudly continuing the tradition of live music, The Parlor Room Collective is on a mission to create an inclusive space that celebrates art, artists, and community. Join us in reaching our $750,000 goal, and let’s invest in the health and vitality of our community through the power of music. Together, we can revive the Iron Horse! Music alone shall live! #Revive #CapitalCampaign #TheIronHorse #LiveMusic #Fundraising #Community #HelpUsGrow #InvestInCulture #GiveBack #SupportLocalVenues #CommunityImpact #DonateNow #ParlorRoomCollective

Picture this: It’s a perfect Sunday afternoon in July, it’s been a long week of work & summer play and you just want to soak up the last moments of the weekend. You meet up with friends for an early dinner, then pack up your car with blankets and folding chairs and take the beautiful drive to Black Birch Vineyard, grab a couple bottles of wine and settle into your cozy spot. Loudon Wainwright III takes the stage as you sip on your wine, and so begins one of those perfect, magical summer nights that you’ll always remember. “On this latest offering, we find him in a state of deep reflection at age 75, over a set of insightful and incisive gems… another installment of sophisticated savvy.” – Folk Radio Born in Chapel Hill, N.C. in 1946, Loudon Wainwright III came to fame when “Dead Skunk” became a Top 20 hit in 1972. He had studied acting at Carnegie-Mellon University, but dropped out to partake in the Summer of Love in San Francisco, and wrote his first song in 1968 (“Edgar,” about a lobsterman in Rhode Island). He was soon signed to Atlantic Records by Nesuhi Ertegun, and after that was lured by Clive Davis to Columbia Records, which released “Dead Skunk.” His songs have since been recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Cash, Earl Scruggs, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, his son Rufus Wainwright, and Mose Allison, among others. Wainwright has recorded 27 albums, including his 2009 Grammy Award-winning High Wide & Handsome.” Tickets available at parlorroom.org/bbv 🍷✨

Hello friends! We are sad to announce that our show for tonight with House of Hamill has been postponed due to illness. We will circle back with a new date for you soon - we are sending well wishes to House of Hamill and good luck on the rest of their tour! We’ve got two other wonderful shows for this weekend, so come on through! ✨ Saturday May 18th ~ Michael Tarbox (of The Tarbox Ramblers) Michael Tarbox writes songs anchored in rock ‘n’ roll, backwater blues, and hillbilly music. Longing and lyrical, they convey a sense of hard-won perspective. The Chicago Reader calls Tarbox’s singing “ageless.” His gospel-tinged electric guitar playing, tough as Texas barbed-wire, brings it all together. ✨ Sunday May 19 ~ Honeysuckle w/ Emily Haviland Comprised of Holly McGarry and Chris Bloniarz, this upstate NY based band can frequently be found performing across the country. Honeysuckle has performed at Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza, Mountain Jam, Americanafest, Otis Mountain Get Down, and Audiotree. Awards include Americana Artist of the Year (2019) and Folk Artist of the Year (2018) at the Boston Music Awards, in addition to having been nominated every year since 2016. NPR named Honeysuckle one of the “Top 10 bands of 2016 So Far.” Come on out friends! Get your tickets at parlorroom.org🎟️✨

Fresh off a first place win at the 2023 Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival band competition, Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light have been captivating audiences throughout the northeast. With songs as sweet and biting as the nectar and venom in her voice, Sumner’s lyric-forward writing and penchant for snaking chord progressions demand something far beyond folk conventions, highlighting the acrobatic range of her brilliant bandmates Kat Wallace (fiddle) and Mike Siegel (upright bass). Sumner is no stranger to the stage. She spent her early career on the bluegrass circuit, singing and writing with the genre-bending roots group Twisted Pine. Since setting out on her own, Sumner’s songs have been critically acclaimed: winning the 2021 John Lennon Award in the folk category for her song “Radium Girls (Curie Eleison);” earning a spot in the Kerrville New Folk Competition; and being chosen four consecutive years as one of the top Massachusetts entries in NPR’s Tiny Desk Competition. We can’t wait to have Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light back at the Parlor Room this Sunday playing music from their upcoming album! Get your tickets now at parlorroom.org 🎟️✨
