Where do we begin? Mary and I were so grateful to our NC family for their time, generosity, love and yes, FOOD, that they showered on us. Sharing the beautiful homes (Rich, Wendy, Phil and Melissa)….Thankful to the Roccuzzo, Treadway, Punsalan, Collette, Wood and Kern families for catching us up on their lives since our last visit Loved seeing Christopher, Stephanie, Liv, Soph, Emma, Jake and a surprise visit from Cooper! Hearing about school, graduations, dance, etc was awesome and filling people in on all things going on up North….we will continue to keep our promise of staying connected and hoping we will get you guys up to Naperville next (but not in Feb right RT?). In honor of World Circus Day, I thought I’d post my top 10 performances (in my opinion)!
# 1 - Grace (2022): Loved the meaning behind this piece and this was my first time exploring loops. Still obsessed with this piece and I’m very proud of my younger self.
# 2 - Head Above Water (2023): Fluidity-based piece and I think it turned out wonderful. Trying sling moves on a spanset to see how different textures feel and embracing them.
# 3 - Work Song (2024): My piece that won me 1st overall in sling at SOAR aerial competition!! Super happy with how this turned out.
# 4 - Fix You (2023): This piece was one of my first performances that drew the audience into the story as if it were dedicated to them. Explored more on straps and I’m really happy with how this turned out.
# 5 - Died in Your Arms (2023): My submission to Carolina Circus Festival as it got cancelled due to weather. So happy that my family and I had the opportunity to play around with some film tricks.
# 6 - It Takes a Lot to Know a Man (2022): The creation of this piece started to shift my mindset into more modern-based movements and to picture my body more in space.
# 7 - Move Your Body (2024): My first piece that included tumbling! Sadly not shown in the video, but this tested my capability for new tricks and was so fun to perform.
# 8 - Bullet with Butterfly Wings (2022): Showing my strengthy side on silks and testing more dramatic drops.
# 9 - We Will Rock You (2023): The theme was decades and this piece challenged me as this was my first bar routine.
# 10 - Creep (2021): This was not my greatest of pieces, but it marked a time where I started to think of performing differently. Thinking of it as a story through movement which pivoted my mindset of performing to where I am today.
