Spent my 40th birthday in prison!! 🥳 I’m returning home from 2 weeks of a life changing journey to co-facilitate inmates with @caitlincannonmusic in a Florida prison through the process of writing songs to help participants to discover their “deeper truth”… What an experience. Caitlin’s vision for this work is expansive and she allowed me into the heart of the work as we also created training manuals that will open the door for other songwriters to practice this meaningful work. Huge bow 🙇🏽‍♀️ of gratitude to the @culturalartsalliance for supporting this project in all the ways! If there is a curious songwriter friend out there… we are going back in August and are looking for one final writer to move through our (paid- you get paid) training to learn how to do this kind of work… just DM me or Caitlin if this is peeking your curiosity… This has been transformational… it’s humbling to meet people with such drive and determination to bring change to what can feel like a limiting world. The concept of “prison” has shifted for me and I feel even more aware of the prisons that we place ourselves in through our mind’s and our own belief structures. The metaphor changes when working with people behind physical bars. Still music… music… music… she somehow has a way of leading us to freedom… Interestingly, while doing this work… we also happened to be offered a photo shoot from the supremely talented @timjacksonsphotography and of course Ruthie was the star of the show ✨

We are expecting!!! Ripping off the bandaid to tell our extended social community that our journey is… Shifting… The inner circle of mamas who step in with insightful tips is a mystery to behold. How do women just seem to know how to support each-other instinctually? Has it always been this way? Is there a gene that connects us by sonar or telepathy toward this mysterious and powerful web of support? If you are preggers and don’t have this support system, reach out! I am guessing it is somewhere closer than you may now know… Your local yoga community or doula community, a neighbor or friend of a friend… Grateful that this web of support is appearing for Dom and I and to all of the mysteries of birth and motherhood that are still yet unknown. Heads up… as this information floods in, I may have to share some of it here as a means of processing… feel free to unfollow if that isn’t your cup of tea. 🫖 Sending love to all the mamas and papas who have been here before us. You are our teachers, you are our guides… 🙇🏽‍♀️
