Tonight @furloughfilm is having its Australian premiere at @flickerfest This is one of my favorite scenes/sequences from the film. I wanted to recreate the country parties we used to sometimes go to in high school. Even though we ended up cutting into it for timing, we shot the car to the party intro scene in one shot, thanks to the amazing @gclorusso_dp who jumped backwards out of the ute and followed our amazing actors @millyalcock @markella.kavenagh and @kye_lista , not to mention the AMAZING background artists who we literally poached from the local skate parks and cafes and despite most having no prior acting experience, were so committed, patient, and collaborative. You were amazing. This party was our very first day, and it will forever be one of the best days of my life. (Albeit a sleepless, Adrenalin filled one!) If you can make it tonight, THANKYOU! And if you can’t, I wanted to share this little clip. Also, big massive thanks to @lotti_benardout and @haelos I sent what was basically a love letter to ask for permission to use this song in my film and it wouldn’t have worked without it. Australians! Go see this movie! It is hands down one of the most beautiful, inspiring, raw films I’ve seen, ever. Made by two of my favorite people in the world, director @glendyn_ivin and cinematography by @samchippy , not to mention one of the most heartbreakingly honest and stunning performances by the forever GOAT @naomiwatts and of course the incomparable #jackieweaver and @leeannawalsman I was lucky enough to see a screening last year, and I’ve been so excited for it to be released not only so I can watch it again but so I have other people to share my love for this film with. Very grateful to be part of this panel (from afar) a night of discussions about climate change between culture leaders and climate experts. A wonderful initiative to break down and converse about environmental issues in a really candid, open way. Sometimes it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with political and scientific jargon, but this panel was a great way to share ideas and tools in a straight forward, productive way.
