Hey guys. This is Myles Loftin (@mylesloftin ) for the 2nd day of my @polaroid Instagram takeover. Today I’m doing a mental health check-in with my friend @Olivia who works with mental health issues in the DC area. She recently started an initiative called the Psych Series for #mentalhealthawarenessmonth in May. In this video, we’re focusing on the questions you’ve asked about Black mental health through my stories last Friday. Tune in to hear how media portrayals of Black People affect mental health, how to cope with the recent events as a privileged Black Person, and what you can do right now to help your friends. #amplifyblackvoices

Hi there, my name is Grace Bukunmi (@bukunmigrace ) and I'm a Nigerian American photographer, stylist and art director. My work centers around elevating the stories of others under the Black gaze by utilizing art and fashion to explore body politics, social justice and diversity dearth. ⠀ ⠀ Today is a particularly special day to many, as it marks the memorial of the death of George Floyd. As we gather nationwide to mourn the languor of hate and strive for healing and hope, we must remember that in honoring these deaths, we are also recognizing centuries of systemic racism and oppression that divided our world. In these last few days, I’ve had conversations and witnessed experiences that I’ve never seen before. The cataclysmic stream of events was further aggravated by the police harassment of my partner @nombe as we’re collectively processing structural inequalities that have crippled the Black community. ⠀ ⠀ I’m starting off this takeover by sharing a perspective close to my heart, that of my partner’s. Through his experience in this video, I hope you can find further understanding and compassion for your fellow humankind and the necessity for change. As you process your own experience, feel free to check out my personal IG stories @bukunmigrace for more information on how to get educated and get involved.⠀ #amplifyblackvoices

Hello, Hello. It’s @marcus.branch here again. Yesterday I invited you to ask your questions about the experience of being a Black Artist. Today I’m here with performing artist @KingsleyIbeneche to have a dialogue about our experiences. Join us as we discuss the Black Artists that have inspired our work, the challenges facing Black Artists in the industry, and what you can do to be a better ally. We’d like to continue these dialogues as a series on our channels, as well as bring in other voices and perspectives. We’d also like to hear where you stand on the topics covered in the video, so please let us know in the comments below. #amplifyblackvoices

Hello, hello. @marcus.branch here again. As Black Men, we don’t often hold the hard conversations that need to be held. Our Community brushes off vulnerability as weakness. I want to change the course of this pattern.⠀ ⠀ On Sunday, I’ll be chatting with Kingsley Ibeneche(@kingsleyibeneche ), an incredible performing artist and writer (and my best friend), about our experiences as Black Artists. ⠀ ⠀ I want to invite you all into this dialogue. Please ask questions and suggest topics in the comments below – or head to my story to ask your question privately.⠀ ⠀ For example, what challenges have you faced within industry because of your race? Or, what advice would you give to young black creatives aspiring to break into industry?⠀ ⠀ Once we've received all of your questions, Kingsley and I will sit down Sunday and have an open discussion responding to YOUR voices. You will have access to view this anytime on @Polaroid ’s IGTV.
