Ypatia Kornarou: Because of social media and the internet in general, photo viewing is a condition we have to deal with every day. In the “age of the image” the difficult thing is to discover qualitative “visual field” invested with an interesting narrative. When finally a photograph can and does contain the elements, the motif that will give it an interesting identity then the feeling is one of surprise and relief about the art of photography. Today we are sharing this beautiful work by the sensitive artist @mukasaart , on his own words about this artpiece: (See The World Through My Eyes) I finally finished this after weeks of practicing and working on a number of different aspects of colouring in. This initially started out as a basic eye practice drawing but I was inspired by @richere_art and her paintings (which you should check out) to see how far I could push my coloured pencil technique when it came to skin texture, lighting, plant texture and eye ball glossiness. While I am happy with how this came out I still feel that I haven’t yet reached the heights that I set out on when I began this drawing. I think that I got some lighting mastered, but I didn’t get the type of skin texture or eyeball glossiness that I wanted. The leaves are a mixed bag with some leaves I am happier with than others. Nonetheless I am excited with what I was able to do with this and what I was able to learn which I will be able to take in to my next illustration! The idea behind this was inspired by my interest in insects as a child as well as all the plants that my brother keeps on the balcony. I wanted to have this striking image where you can see this figure coming through the bushes and illuminating the surroundings with curiosity and wonder. This was done entirely in coloured pencils. ❤️ Recordando nuestra visita a la fantástica exposición “MANOLO SÁNCHEZ #ManoloSánchez y la experimentación en la acuarela” en el Espacio Cultural CajaCanarias @fundacioncajacanarias de La Laguna. La intención de esta muestra según La Fundación Caja Canarias: Ni antológica, ni retrospectiva. Tampoco cata ocasional o selección temática. Esta muestra pretende proyectar luz en un tramo muy significativo de la pintura de Manolo Sánchez (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1930 – La Laguna, 2023) por lo que conlleva de ruptura con la estética tradicional y de afán de experimentación sin restricciones, a la vez que permite entender los porqués de otras facetas que nunca abandonó y son las más conocidas popularmente. Before I knew it, I had 35 meandering acoustic demos about parenthood which I refined into 13 tracks. These were recorded over two action-packed weeks with an orchestra, choir, and band, which was so much fun. I took the “old school” producer approach this time around —less time on the instruments and more time behind the glass. I wanted people to listen to this album and know it wasn’t made on a computer. It is organic, acoustic and we embraced the imperfections of the live recordings. In a way, it is a celebration of the amazing musicians who contributed their flavour to this record.
