About the designer
What inspired you to start your own couture brand?
„I can’t do anything else. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been involved with fashion. Both of my grandparents were tailors, and the process behind the creation of a garment has always fascinated me. The combination of craftsmanship and artistry is what appeals to me.“
How would you describe the aesthetic and style of your couture creations?
“Love with an edge”
Why bridal?
“For me, there is no clear line between couture and bridal. I see both as special occasion wear and don’t see what should set them apart (except the omnipresence of the color white -still.)”
Are you married?
“No, and I’m probably not ever going to get married. That’s what makes me the perfect “bridal” designer: I don’t care about traditions. What’s most important to me is to make people feel amazing in their outfit - no matter the occasion”
What sets your brand apart from other couture designers?
“The Berlin coolness, that makes elegant and romantic look edgy and bold.”
What challenges have you faced as a couture designer, and how have you overcome them?
“The german word for passion is ‘Leidenschaft’ - a composition of ‘Leiden’ (=suffering) and ‚Schaffen‘ (=creating/working). One does not go without the other and it’s about finding the balance. I‘m still trying to figure it out.”
What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase their first couture piece?
“Don’t listen to what others say, just listen to your heart and decide for what’s best for you.”
What message or feeling do you hope customers experience when wearing your couture?
“Live your dream.”
Facts about you, most people don’t know?
“I’m actually very nice once you know me. I don’t talk much, that’s why some assume I’m cold. But I just don’t like smalltalk and chitchat.”
I know the last picture in color is absolutely beautiful. The thing is, I don’t like red. Red themes are super popular wedding style concepts right now (in my bubble). I‘m trying not to follow every trend and stay true to myself, yes. And for me, personally, nothing beats the timelessness of black & white photography. At the same time, I just can’t keep the beauty of this ultra cool editorial from you! (And btw, if you love red, go for it! No matter if it’s a trend or not ♥️)
I really love a refreshing new perspective. That’s my no. 1 reason why I love creative collaborations so much: seeing my work in a concept, I would never have planned or executed the same way. And the outcome is always so refreshing and inspiring to me and makes me realize how amazing it actually is, that we all have different tastes, that are so fucking good though in their very own way.
Anyone relating?
