Kids are the best. This one is figuring me out. She isn't a fan of me... yet. Hopefully one day she will. But, to be honest it makes taking her picture a lot fun.
I always get stoked when I get to hang out with this might one. Such a talent... I am always learning something new when I am with her. Molly is best. Love her like a sister. She is always down to let me take her portrait. Thanks miss Miller
I have been fortunate to have known Tak for 20 plus years. We met during my Stussy and Nike days. He is the owner of @blends , and very cool sneaker and clothing boutique(s) in Southern California. He is originally from Japan and has the best outlook on most anything creative. He still owns the boutiques but had recently open a pizza spot in Costa Mesa. It's incredible pizza too
@yokishop has been an icon in the surf, streetwear industry for decades. His first brand he launched was Maui & Sons in the early 80's and has launched multiple successful brands after. Whenever I go to his shop I like to snap a few frames. I walk away better after sitting down and spilling the beans with him. His mind is always creating and thinking new ways to do things. Truly a pioneer and inspiration to so many people. YOKI rules.
Palm trees and silhouettes always make cool images. At least I think so. This was from last year. I did many days on my bike and a camera when I was in treatment with chemo. I absolutely love my cancer experience. These days made all the difference for me.
Last Friday Maddi did a 'warm up' show at @golddiggersla before her summer festival circuit begins. They hadn't played in 7 months, but you couldn't tell. Her and her band are so connected it's crazy. What I didn't expect was how incredible a duet she had planned with @timbernardes . I had never heard him before. These two harmonize like no one else. I am on a full court press to convince them to make an album together. @madicunningham
Anna Butterss is truly an amazing musician and an even better human. I can't remember when we met, but I remember where and what we were doing. From day one we connected and have been friends ever since. She allowed me to come document the recording of her soon to be released record. Thank God it was a two day recording session. The camera on the first day, the one that got dunked in the ocean, and has since been very moody on me... sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. With that in mind I came home and processed the film and 9 out of 11 rolls were blank. Fortunately I was able to come back on Sunday and shoot again, but with a different camera. I am asked what is my favorite thing to shoot, and I always say a band in the recording studio. There is something so interesting about it. I love watching the process of how songs are worked out, manipulated and how different musicians approach it. Thank you Anna for letting me be a fly on the wall.
The best part of photography is meeting and working with amazing people. @joshuathomasmusic recently moved to LA and is a brilliant musician. It's such an honor to work with and become friends with people I admire. He will have a new album coming out soon.
I went out to Texas last week with @teambkinc for a week. We have been friends for several decades. He and his wife Dee are shepherding in a brand, that I absolutely love and believe in. @rangeessentials . BK asked me if I could help in shaping the image of the brand. So when he asked if I'd drive out to Austin for a trade show I said absolutely. He is just like me on a road trip. We stocked up on purified water, walnuts and dates and hard boiled eggs, and a bag carrots. He wants to stop at anything that looks cool and shoot it. Willing to get off the main hwy just to see what's down the road or around the bend. Eat on the side of the road. His DJ skills needs some improvements. But it is a lot of fun getting RANGE get launched. If this trip is any indicator of what is coming. I'm in. That road trip was epic. Thanks for letting me shoot shoot a Ford truck commercial. I want to submit it. Thanks we for the truck.
I did a drive out to Texas last week... nothing better than getting in a car and exploring. We stopped in one of my favorite towns, Van Horn. It's everything you thing a small town in west Texas would be. I think there are two signals and a few hotels. We met this guy, Gary, aka Big Casino. He is super kind and let me take his photo. He said not many people want to take his photo. He said he has a great face for radio. I responded you have a face only your mother and I like. We both had a good laugh. He was born and raised in Van Horn. He asked what I did and he told me to come back out in February for a music festival held not far from there. I think I might do that. There is something to be said about 'Texas nice'. Gary was nothing but polite and generous with his time. I'm looking forward to getting back there and looking him up.
It's been amazing to watch maddi's carrier rise over the past decade. I can't express how proud I am to call her friend, and have a front row ticket to this. She played the Hollywood Bowl a few months ago... her first time playing there and my first time shooting in this iconic venue. Sometimes the sound check can be more interesting to me then the live performance. I don't have to worry about being in the way and can have access to angles I other wise wouldn't be able to get. Love this girl and couldn't be more proud of her. Such a talent and amazing person. @madicunningham
