Chicago Korea Opening…another incredible group of actors, singers, dancers, musicians, crew, such talent, dedication and hard work to create such an exciting and thrilling production — and all performed in Korean, hotcha, whoopie, skidoo!!! Much love, kamsahapneeda!!! ❤️❤️❤️
First day of rehearsal for the National tour of “Kiss Of The Spider Woman” in 1995. She had just finished doing this role on Broadway and it was very important for her to take this show, this story to cities and towns across the states and Canada. For me to get the opportunity to conduct this musical with Chita Rivera was beyond exciting, I couldn’t wait to get started. And I was completely terrified. She came in to the rehearsal room, just the two of us, I got behind the piano and started playing the opening number. I was trying to play it cool but I was so nervous, my whole body was trembling, of course she sensed that. She finished singing her first line, walked over to me, grabbed me by the arms, stood me up and hugged me for almost a minute. I melted. She put me right at ease. This was the beginning of two of the best years of my life. Always, always, dear Chita. ❤
The Chicago Broadway Orchestra annual (our 27th!!) holiday dinner. I get to make music with these musicians and our incredible subs, life is good. A-5-6-7-8!!!
Third and final pic, (I promise), Christmas day beach walk. And even though it’s the holiday season, baby, it’s warm outside! Happy holidays and Merry Christmas!!!
I started conducting “Chicago” in January 1997 and have been with the show, off and on, ever since. Today is my fifth year anniversary being back with the Broadway company. This picture was taken for our 27th Anniversary during that special performance. So, so grateful. 📷 Avery Brunkus
