Took a break from holiday baking to make @annastormblessed 's birthday cake! (with help from @sarah_cularien 🥰) Her favorite, German chocolate with the classic coconut caramel pecan frosting. This year we used the NYT Cooking recipe and y'all it's perfect (provided you double the frosting recipe to cover the sides bc ganache is silly). We also made cupcakes without pecans for Evie's nut allergy, and plain ones for the kids.

Friendsgiving 2023 was so incredibly wonderful, my favorite one yet! We had an amazing housewarming get together, and consider our house thoroughly toasty thanks to our wonderful chosen extended family who brought incredible food 🥰 we made most of it tho! Turkey was mostly me (with help from the whole polycule to crack the breastbone cuz SHEESH that was a strong bird!!) 🦃 Fresh cran relish was also me, as was cornbread dressing (sadly slightly singed but didn't taste like it lol), and the pumpkin and pecan pie fillings (separate post coming for pie!) 🥧 All credit to Evie and Anna for their gorg pastry work! Sarah did potatoes (her truest love) and the best gravy of my life, along with stovetop stuffing for the nostalgia. 🥔 Anna made the best rolls ever and I'm gonna help change our chores around so she makes bread on the weekly 😂 Milo is a casserole champ and did a broccoli cheese thing as well as the classic marshmallow sweet potato thing, and both were nearly perfect aside from some oven issues haha. We'll figure that out. I'm definitely forgetting to credit people for dishes at this point but all props to our family for moving and having our first gathering less than two weeks later 🫨😘💚 . My current fermentation project: mustard! Shout out to @brad_leone for the inspiration, I've made this loads of times and it is so bomb 💣 I always use my own ACV as a starter (her name is Lady Grace 💅) and it's always SO GOOD and so active because of that! I added the salt today (a couple days later than usual) and decided it needed another 2-3 days to age since it's been cooler lately 🤓 I also got to teach our 5 year old about "good germs" making burps which is why it sounds fizzy 😂 Oh, and update post on the cheong incoming 🫐 it's almost done, just needs to be strained! .
