Excuse my absence! I’ve been working on my death metal band, but, I have been composing gregorian chants for new material and had a candelabra electric harp made for RUINER! It is absolutely incredible this one of a kind instrument has been made and will be quite the spectacle for shows later on. I’m absolutely elated to start learning to use it and an enormous amount of gratitude to the creator of this piece @santafemetal22 !!! It will surely be a while before I get back to playing shows but I am working on some new music! Cheers!

Ruiner is a drone metal act that manifested around 2010 strictly as a live experience nowhere to be found online. The upcoming release of his album, The Book of Patience, on June 9, 2023, will be the first recording of “this high desert enchanter,” who is “ready to make flesh the material capable of manipulating time and space.”
The Book of Patience isn’t for casual music fans. It’s a high-concept record consisting of one song with 80 minutes of long-form drone. If this sounds crazy to you, it’s because it sort of is. But if you like super-weird music that pushes the boundaries, then you may dig it. It’s good for fans of Sun O))), Bell Witch, and William Basinski. It also has the esoteric spiritual vibes that reminded me so much of a band I love, OM.
I like that Desert Records has taken a risk here to release something as deeply experimental as Ruiner’s record. I appreciate the earnestness of creating high-concept art like this that could be dismissed as too pretentious by others who just want meat-and-potatoes stoner rock.
Seeing Ruiner live is probably a fun experience, like being part of some ancient desert ritual. And I am glad he finally recorded and gathered this experience into the music he can share with us.

Drone Ritual on Feb 28. The album lays dormant as the search for a label continues. Through persistence hopefully an album release show will happen this year. In the meantime, PATIENCE.
Next on the docket is @psycholasvegas and I have more tapes to hand out for this festival! This one is outrageous because a horde of metal heads descents upon Las Vegas and gathers to ride out a storm of bands, all the while surrounded by the surreal Vegas setting. Excited to see friends perform, as well as hang with a huge crew of homies. ONWARD!
Fire in the Mountains was absolutely stunning and cathartic. The tapes were very well received by the likes of Steve Von Till and Mike Scheidt. Everyone was so nice and it was so amazing to meet a lot of new people and hang out with old friends. Till 2024! Cannot wait!
