@karlkani to get his collection in the homecoming fashion show. It’s the 50th year of Hip-Hop and this man created urban fashion, I made it my duty to teach them history. Fast forwarding to last week, I posted a story about Karl using Diddy as his 1st model in 92 and the campaign being shot on
@howard1867 ’s campus. The night after celebrating the fashion show and being home,
@jaemurphy shows me that Diddy reposted my story (🫶🏽 to
@meli.anndrea ’s husband) and secretly tells me he’s bringing him for yardfest. So BOOM, you know I put my mind to making sure he got one of Karl Kani’s jackets. Once I put my mind to something, I will stand TEN TOES down at challenging to make sure it happens. Except, it was Howard Homecoming. My driver accidentally took us to the law school, every street was blocked off, none of my friends had service and it was 5:30 pm, and the yard shut down at 6:00 pm. I was having a whole meltdown in the car, like if this doesn’t happen Homecoming is over for me ( that’s how passionate I was). I finally get to the yard at 5:45 pm. Every security guard is telling me fuck no, I can’t get past the gate. My friends are waving at me from the stage and I couldn’t get inside, but you know I’m highly favored and every single time campus plays,
@shanna_fantastic (Howard’s Angel) magically appears in the crowd to get me in. From there it was literally one band one sound.
@cierrabrooks literally knocked on every single black car on the street to make this happen. I literally got to gift
@diddy with the brand that he created with
@karlkani on the same campus. I even had Karl on FaceTime to experience the moment. I don’t do this for money. I do it for the culture! I often feel so overlooked by these “major” brands that represent the campus I go so hard for… and then God literally says, BIGGER! These two are the reason hip hop fashion/culture even exist! Wow!
