Japan 😍 I’ve been wanting to visit here for soo many years, and Kyoto did not disappoint!! A beautiful culture to witness, and try to immerse oneself in. Finally, a place where English doesn’t quite get you by ;) I was a bit nervous for my picky palate (disclaimer: I am NOT a sushi lover) and packed many granola bars in prep- but in the end I was happy it “forced” me to experiment with foods that are a bit outside my comfort zone, and it turns out I didn’t need that many granola bars after all. Quick highlights: the best Matchas I’ve ever had, the best WAGYU oh my 🤤, real life Geishas, tiny alleyways teeming with hidden gem restaurants and bars, random karaoke night with a Japanese running team we met at dinner, head spas, stunning historical landmarks, and such considerate people :) Can’t WAIT to go back!! Of the 5 city 1 month Asia tour- this was without a doubt my favorite spot 😍 #kyoto #japantravels #asiatour

Today on my 33rd birthday, I took a moment to reflect on what last year looked like at this time. The first half of these photos are from my 9th of 12 total chemo infusions. The second half of photos are from last week, wandering around Asia. Ohhh how far I have come. 🙏🏼😭🙏🏼 #thankyougod #cancersurvivor #hodgkinslymphoma

Bali 😍 I get the hype. Honestly I was not a fan at first and wanted to leave after 2 days… but we ended up extending to 10 days there and I totally got bit by the Bali bug 😍 (thankfully, not literally as we did have quite a few encounters with large crawly creatures) 🙃🕷️🦎 #balitrip #asiatour #ubudbali

Schnitzel, 🍕 and 🍟 pretty much sums up my first experience skiing!! I had basically written off ever being able to ski or snowboard from thinking it was “too late” to start, and for this trip I was worried my body was still too weak from chemo …but turns out it was part of the BS we tell ourselves 😏 it was super empowering to feel my body kick up the gears and rise to the physical challenge. Learning how to ski in the Austrian Alps was definitely a “I can’t believe this is my life” moment! What an unbeatable way to ring in my New Year ✨⛷️🙏🏼 Also look at all that real snow!! ❄️ 🙌 And yes this is super late to post, but it needs to live here 😌 #firsttimeskiing #austrianalps #nevertoolatetostart #cancerrecovery #travelreel

This time last year I was one month into chemotherapy. Now, I am on the red carpet 😉 I am overjoyed to once again experience the magic of the Oscars, and finally celebrate my 10th year with the VF family! ✨ #allgratitude #lifeiscrazy #itgetsbetter #hollywoodsbiggestnight #cancersurvivor #cancerrecovery #vfoscars #portacath #hodgkinslymphoma

The strength and beauty of my body continues to amaze me. Real talk- it’s been interesting to see my perspective evolve- being raised as a girl in our society and especially be involved in performance arts like dance, modeling and acting, I always felt this pressure to be as perfect as I could be, physically. I was so precious with my body. Realizing all the changes my body would be going through with cancer and chemotherapy was one of the parts that I struggled with most mentally when diagnosed. Crazy right?! Being confronted with my mortality, I was stuck on the “vain” parts- the scars from surgeries, the dullness of skin, of course hair loss including eyebrows & lashes, brittle nails, perhaps teeth damage / rotting if I were to need radiation to my neck / lower jaw area… being 31 this terrified me. Like all my beauty and consequently a significant source of my power was being sucked away, so prematurely. And realistically, it was not just vanity. The fear came from the true associations youth and beauty have with vitality, & being further away from death - which was suddenly a much bigger threat to me than expected. Phew, heavy, yes. But now…I have learned to be less precious with my body. I DO have multiple scars, and I actually am okay with them now, maybe even a little proud. They are a testament to the brutality that I’ve endured, to the strength that I’ve gained, to a huge part of me that will stay with me permanently, long after medical treatments are behind me, and my hair has grown back. It’s like having a brand new car. You obsess over keeping it pristine, but once a few scratches are on it, heck why not use the thing and see what mileage you can get out of it? ;) Our bodies are our vessels, they do incredible things for us everyday. They carry our souls around and enable us to interact with this dynamic world, to chase our dreams, to build our loves, to have adventures. Friends- I RANG THE BELL. 🔔 🎉🥹🏆🍾😭🙏🏼💪🙌💥 Today marks officially one week since receiving my last chemo infusion!!! Every two weeks, for the last 6 months. Total of 12 infusions. Brutal. Never ending. Miserable. Then suddenly, done 🌬️✅ I still have to do a PET scan in a few weeks to see if the cancer is all gone. But finishing my chemo regiment is something MAJOR to be celebrated! For context, in my 6 months at this busy center, I never once heard someone ring the bell 😢 I hope it was a matter of timing, and that many people did it on days I was not there. The reality is that a lot of people today live with diagnoses that are not curable, just managed with treatment for as long as possible. Given that- I’ve added the American Cancer Society to this reel, for anyone who feels they can spare a dollar today to help us make more cancers curable for everyone 🙏🏼💗 More to follow soon, I just couldn’t wait to share this with you all! And for anyone out there looking for the encouragement I needed as well - YOU CAN DO IT. Visualize ringing your bell! 🔔🙏🏼🔔 #cancersurvivor #hodgkinslymphoma #beatcancer #cancerbell #chemotherapy #fuckcancer
