🍾Best Bubbles in the West!🥂
Schramsberg Vineyards is one of the oldest vineyards in Napa Valley
Located in the hills of Calistoga, @schramsberg caves are aging over 2 million bottles of sparkling wine.
Schramsberg’s vineyards benefit from the region’s unique microclimates, ensuring each grape ripens to perfection.
The winery’s dedication to traditional Champagne methods, such as hand-picking grapes and bottle fermentation, results in exquisite sparkling wines with rich flavors and fine bubbles.
*
The Blanc de Blancs (white of whites) was used for President Nixon’s 1972 “Toast to Peace” with China’s Premier Zhou.
Since then, every U.S. Presidential administration has served Schramsberg’s sparkling wines at official State functions.
*
Schramsberg makes a lot of various styles of sparkling wine from Blanc de Blancs, to Blanc de Noirs (white of reds), longer aged (7+ years), and my favorite, rosé!
Have you ever had a bottle of Schramsberg?🍾🥂
SCOUT WILL BE OPEN ON THE 4th of JULY FROM 12-4PM!
Impress your friends and family with last minute drinks and food from SCOUT Wine Merchants.
Although we have a large assortment of wine that will go nicely with grilled food and parties, SCOUT is recommending:
The Paring Red Blend, California 2018 ($28.99)
This Bordeaux-style red blend from California has been a real crowd pleaser. Cabernet Sauvignon based, it's perfect for steaks and brisket, and great with just about anything you can put on a grill.
Altos de Corral Rioja Reserva, Spain 2010 ($59.99)
For the price, this is one of the best wines in the shop. At (basically) 14 years old, it is right in its optimal drinking window. Bold but elegant, and somehow maintaining freshness and youth, this will delight even the pickiest of wine connoisseurs.
Shiokawa “Cowboy” Yamahai Junmai Ginjo Genshu, Niigata, Japan ($36.99)
SCOUT embraces being adventurous with your choice of drinks, and we can all but guarantee no one will expect you to show up to a BBQ with a bottle of Sake. Rich and umami forward, with layers of smoke, soy sauce and beef broth, amaze everyone and pretend like this was your idea.
If none of those catch your interest, stop in and ask a team member for assistance. We're happy to answer all of your questions!

Birthday week (it was June 27 and I’m still celebrating!). In a culture that celebrates—rightfully—“20 under 40”, maybe it’s ok to take a moment and acknowledge “Reinvented after 50” or “Started new career at 45” and other worthy accomplishments. After my cancer diagnosis 3 and ½ years ago (yes, we count the half year milestones), I recently had the thought that I would not be here right now without health screening and insightful doctors and advanced protocols. So I am infinitely grateful for any more time on this gorgeous planet with these people that I love so much. The half years and all. I am trying to own this, this body, this mind. Scars. Lots and lots of laugh lines.
I’ve never felt more sure of myself, a certainty in my marrow. I’m here for the long haul, the hard things, and ALLLLLL of the joy. As my friend Wendy said to me this week, “a woman fully in her power is a thing of fucking beauty.”* I have to agree.
*sorry mom, I know you won’t like that I swore 😅
Sending all of you so much love ❤️🙏
🥂a little about Blanc de Noirs🥂
❓Pop quiz: what are the most common grapes found in a Blanc de Noirs sparkling? Read on for the answer 👀
🍇 Blanc de Noirs is a type of sparkling wine made exclusively from dark-skinned grapes, most commonly Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Despite its name, which means “white from blacks” in French, the wine is typically light in color - like the Schramsberg featured in this photo.
🍓 This color is achieved through a careful winemaking process that involves gently pressing the grapes to extract the juice while minimizing skin contact, preventing dark pigments from tinting the wine. The result is a wine with a rich, robust flavor profile, often with notes of red fruits and spices, and a more substantial body compared to its counterpart, Blanc de Blancs, which is made from white grapes like Chardonnay.
🌎 Blanc de Noirs isn’t just produced in Champagne. In the United States, California is a notable producer (and the home to the wine pictured here!). Italy’s Franciacorta region is also known for its high-quality sparkling wines, including Blanc de noirs. And countries like Australia and New Zealand have entered the scene as well.
Have you tried Blanc de Noirs from any other regions?
Cheers, friends! 💁🏽♀️🥂🍇

What an inspiration the first ever #nikkeiwinesummit was! If you would have told me a few years ago that I would have the honor of being amidst 8 Japanese American winemakers speaking at the summit or 20 Japanese American led wineries celebrating our heritage at a Grand Tasting, I couldn’t have imagined it. A huge thank you to @vinoesq and @jaccc_la for bringing us together in community and inviting me to represent @wvwines . The energy in the room was unparalleled and celebrated both shared history and individual stories! #nikkei#nikkeifood
