We still can’t get over Tabata fest 5.0 with @dkarafitness . Having @emmanuelosahor rehearse the routine that same morning to cover up for another dancer was insane! Seeing our dancers on stage inspiring the other kids in the event was incredible!!! Today, we are grateful for growth, the gift of dance and opportunity. Thank you @uduak for trusting us with your event💙

Looking back from 2022 till date, God has used you and is still using you to impact our lives. All these years, you have sacrificed luxury, sleep, time, resources, comfort your personal growth, energy and some of the things we don’t even see. You’re more than just the founder of STS, to some of us you’re a father, big brother, bestfriend, mentor, teacher and HOPE. You should be celebrated EVERYDAY, that is how much we feel about you. Today, we pray for strength to continue to lead us, wisdom to help guide us, good health and a life filled with so much happiness because you’ve filled our lives with nothing less, a sound mind and God’s favour. On behalf of all your students, past and present and all the lives you’ve impacted, we say HAPPY BIRTHDAY 💙🤍 @emmanuelosahor

We can totally relate to when @anthoniaegwoyi said she always looked forward to Thursday, because the day was for sports and clubs in her school. At Slum to Stage, the days in the week where we engage these children creatively in the arts through dance, will live forever in their hearts..for some of them, Fridays and Saturdays are their favorite days of the week💙 #slumtostage #sdg4 #sdg4qualityeducation #artsintegration

In our research, we have found out that having a creative or artistic activity in school gives students a reason to show up, helps them enjoy their days and encourages a range of positive behavior. ARTS INTEGRATION can be a good way to retain the interest of students in schools. Do you think so too? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section 👇💙 #slumtostage #sdg4 #sdg4qualityeducation #artsintegration

This is Vanya! She started training with @slumtostage in May last year. When she started, she was a bit shy and unsure. Now, she not only dances, she performs with me😭and I am in awe of her growth. She did not only learn dance skills, she developed her socio- emotional skills as well. You can clearly see her self-esteem skill skyrocket🥹 Lately, I realized that my job with Slum to Stage is not to prepare students for something, but to help students prepare themselves for anything. —————————————- This performance was done to honor the phenomenal Rev. Sam Oye of The Transforming Church @transformersng ✨ ___________________________ #slumtostage #transcendyourlimitations #innovativelearning #creativelearning #foundationallearning #holisticgrowth #dance #dancersinnigeria #balletdancersinnigeria

When you ask an elderly, our typical African parents that you want to became a dancer or an artist this is what they hear instead, “I don’t know what to do with my life so I am choosing to be irresponsible”. That is the picture they’ve created in their minds. They don’t believe that you can dance and still excel in your academics or life in general. They still believe that dance is a distraction and this might ruin that dream they have for their children like becoming doctors, lawyers, engineers, and great business owners. What is the relevance of this post? This is us telling our parents and everyone that you can still dance and go to Law school, medical school and be whatever we want to be. We just need to learn proper time management so none has to suffer. Since 2022, Slum to Stage has used the power of dance to help over 25 students not just improve in their academic performance but also their socio behavioral skills like creativity, discipline, self esteem and confidence, team work and perseverance. These are skills that will not just help them in school but also the outside world. #danceeducationforall #slumtostage #danceeducation #discipline #blacksinballet
