In Service to Whom (2023) 84 minutes A four-act performance Sound, Video projection, Scenography, Archival Collection 24 screens, 4 channels VOLUME 2023 – Art Gallery of New South Wales As I contemplate the evolution and maturation of my artistry, “In Service To Whom” was developed around constructing new narratives surrounding my body, the posture of rest, protection from the gaze, and speaks to a reemergence into the world of everyday life following periods of personal incubation and self-revitalization. The piece featured a sound piece featuring artist Autumn Knight and premiered “Not Necessarily In Arms Reach, Music for Two Tubas ” and “If the Promise is Large” for solo cello and double bass. From @SaintHeron Press, the ‘Eldorado Ballroom 2023 Book’ is an 87-page paperback collector’s keepsake showcasing the pulse of our spring series at @bam_brooklyn . I am still so touched by each of these performances, and the reverence they will hold in my heart forever. I feel so honored and humbled to do the work that I do and so so grateful to have held space with these legendary artist who have all inspired me so deeply. The publication features over 100 exclusive images and was created with the intention to preserve captured moments from between performances, backstage and beyond. It’s our wish that this becomes part of your personal archives as a symbol of the way we collectively safeguard our stories, and honor the historic moments between us. The ‘Eldorado Ballroom 2023 Book’ is available for purchase via saintheron.com (link in bio).

“Eldorado Ballroom” (2023) Curated by me for @SaintHeron and Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) The program takes an anomalous approach to celebrating the intergenerational expressions of experimental and transcendent performance through the decades. My dedication to reverencing and preserving the works of Black practitioners through Saint Heron continues with a lineup consisting of contemporary and historic creative revolutionaries whose artistry and innovation has left a profound mark on music and performance art. “Eldorado Ballroom” takes its name from a historic Black music hall in my native neighborhood, Houston’s Third Ward, where my love for performance began. Each night is programmed to calibrate new artistic territory exploring themes that fulfill my own personal practice. With these seven shows, the multi-generational audiences of Saint Heron and BAM’s communities will experience celebratory and tributary performances that honor the blueprints of these themes in tandem with younger generations reinventing the genres today. Visit for the schedule details, program notes, and sign up for early access to tickets as a Saint Heron Patron. Ticket sales open for BAM members and Saint Heron Patrons tomorrow, Feb 17 at 12pm ET. General admission tickets available Tuesday, Feb 21. Tickets start at $35
