Just a couple folk lads celebrating another beautiful day at @thefolklorerooms for @homegrownbrighton yesterday. A little clip from the end of the day kicking back with @jacko_hooper watching our headliner - Music as it should be.
I had my hands full with lights and sound and only managed to get this clip of @ellisdband which was absolutely sick.
Big love to all the bands who played yesterday and helped me ensure we didn’t run a minute over and generally had a very smooth day. It was a treat to have an entire festival day of working with so many familiar faces and the amazing bands. Thanks for being legends and most of all thank you for your music 🫶

Have had this song in my head since @niamhreganmusic set on Sunday down at the always beautiful @thefolklorerooms .
There was also an incredible set from @christofvanderven and if this is your bag I recommend getting both their music in your ears as soon as you can.
A year ago I challenged myself to learn the Chopin G minor Ballad within 10 years. Here is me playing the first section of the piece after a year of working on it.
I find it difficult to know where to begin with posting on social media these days. Something in Chopin and this piece in particular that for me, manages to convey how I feel about the world in a way so much more potent and powerful than written or spoken language could ever get close to.
I urge you to go listen to the full thing. Despite it’s melancholy nature, when you hear the other sections you can also see that amongst despair and yearning is also hope and a sense of striving and reaching through what seems like the insurmountable.

‘Gravity’
An excerpt from my ‘Musical Theory of Relativity’ masterclass earlier this year at @waterbear_the_college_of_music on behalf of @southlanesstudios
Big thanks to @megcarnie & @jodieamoss for helping arrange this.
I’ll be diving more into where these ideas came from in future posts… for now I’d love to know how they resonate with you. My goal is to find a way to teach everyone to speak fluently in the emotional language of music so please drop any questions or thoughts in the comments. (Musicians & non musicians welcome, everyone who loves music has a valid opinion about how it sounds)

Back in December last year I had the great pleasure of being part of the beautifully ambitious SUNRISE project from @thomaswillowmusic .
As many of you know I started playing cello in the third UK lockdown. I could never have imagined being part of a performance alongside so many talented people in such a short time with this instrument but Tommy's vision and ambition for the project really galvanized me to serve the music well.
Thank you Tommy for having me it was an experience I wont soon forget. I hope we can bring this show to another audience again one day.
For now here's a few snippets of the night.
