We want to send our best wishes for the new production: @raffaella.ballet , created in memory of beloved former St. Louis Ballet dancer, @raffstroik . We are so happy and grateful that Raffaella’s memory is being kept alive through this all-new full-length fairy tale ballet, premiering in South Bend, Indiana this weekend❤️ Raffaella will always be remembered as an example of beauty, grace and kindness at SLB. . SLB dancer @mrusskie93 & trainee @__ellamartin__ will be a part of the production, and other dancers and friends will be traveling to South Bend this weekend to see the show. . #stlaouisballet #raffaellaballet

2024/2025 Season Highlight: Oct. 12-13 - Balanchine’s Western Symphony & Serenade, with @wheeldony ‘s After the Rain. . Don’t miss two of @georgebalanchinetrust ‘s most beloved works - Completely opposite in energy and yet equal in exuberance and technique - Along with the St. Louis premiere of one of Christopher Wheeldon’s most loved pieces. . Serenade, Balanchine’s first ballet set in the USA, just reached it’s 90th anniversary. Serenade demonstrates Balanchine’s mastery at mixing classical technique with a new, very American energy that he would later exemplify in creating New York City Ballet. . And speaking of American - Western Symphony is a striking example of Balanchine’s fascination with Americana - its all things cowboys, saloon girls and folk music arranged my Hershey Kay. . And finally - Christopher Wheeldon’s “After the Rain” pas de deux, an intimate and stirring piece that will mesmerize you with it’s equal part simplicity and complex emotion. . It’s an SLB Birthday! 🎉 Make sure to wish @abby.hannuksela a very Happy Birthday today! Here she is as Candide Fairy in our recent production of The Sleeping Beauty. . Abby joined SLB in 2022, and comes from Seattle, Washington. Abby has had featured roles in pieces by George Balanchine, Gen Horiuchi and Christopher Wheeldon. She also recently was part of the 2024 tour to Tokyo, Japan. . #stlouisballet

The result of a season of hard work - 28 pairs of dead shoes! 🩰 Dancer @rebex1 shows off all of the shoes that carried her through the 2023/2024 Season - Now she and her fellow ballerinas need new ones! - Consider Gifting to The Pointe Shoe Fund Today: - Saint Louis Ballet supplies pointe shoes to 17 talented ballerinas, including our new 2nd Company. - Typically, shoes have an average price tag of $100 each. - One pair of pointe shoes will typically only last a dancer about a week, but some can only last for a single performance. - Saint Louis Ballet has allocated $40,000 for the upcoming 24–25 season .
