A few weeks ago, I introduced the lovely team from @surmeyi to Goa, a place I call home now too .
I had discovered Surmeyi during my never-ending search for baubles. It intrigued me that they were based in #California but had this raw and visceral #SouthAsian vibe. It drew me in. I was awestruck by how they translated the simple joy of sharing mangoes into an entire jewelry line.
For me, jewelry has always been about the emotions it stirs, and I wanted to meet this team. So, I invited them home.
Here’s a little snippet of us wandering through the narrow lanes of the local Friday market in Mapusa, searching for the perfect ripe mangoes to make my favorite childhood snack “Karbat”.

Stay tuned for more!

Introducing the cast of Rasä
.
In the coming days and weeks, we look forward to gradually introducing you to the story behind Rasä, our dance inspired collection, before we are ready to launch it this Fall ✨
Introducing Rasä: Our dance-inspired jewelry collection, coming this fall.
Rasä means the juice, the very essence of something. It’s hard to put into words, but its presence is undeniable to the heart. And this is exactly what we are trying to recreate as we translate the language that is Dance, into jewelry.
Over the next few weeks, we will walk you through the process of us conceptualising this collection, designing it and bringing it to life. So stay tuned! ✨
We’re wrapping up two beautiful stories this weekend! First, our feature on @sanj___ , and second, the archival of our beloved Mango Jhumka.
Thanks @aashna_dev ! We couldn’t have imagined a more fitting reel to celebrate this moment! 🥭
.
PS: Two more days to go before we archive the Mango Jhumka!
As we unpack the idea of belonging with @sanj___ , she’s dedicated the 15th edition of her newsletter, @garmi.studio , to this exploration.
GARMI means heat, and symbolizes its ability to transform things. It is Sanjana’s playground to explore critical socioecological topics that demand change.
Scroll for some snippets from this edition on belonging. You can read the full article on garmi.substack.com
A huge shoutout to @aashna_dev for being the best director/DP/editor for all the photos and reels we’ve been sharing lately!
It’s almost time to archive the Jhumka!
.
We are about to move the Mango Jhumka to a timeless realm on our website — the Surmeyi Archives. Cherishing the narrative arc of our products, we archive them from time to time to make space for new tales to unfold.
We are doing one final run, so place your orders before June 23rd if you’d like to own this soon-to-be-archival piece.
As a little souvenir, we look forward to sending a beautifully crafted brass bookmark to everyone who has ordered the Jhumka! ✨

Captured beautifully on film by @helloexcusemewhat
We first connected with Sanjana (@sanj___ ) on a meandering journey of self-discovery in December 2022. Our hearts were heavy with the weight of previous explorations that had failed to flourish.
It was easy to fall into the trap of viewing these as failures, but Sanjana saw something different. She saw us making a brave choice, “embracing nourishment and intentionality over growth for growth’s sake.”
Sanjana (@sanj___ ) is a South Indian-American writer, filmmaker, and climate activist. Her work brings to life “thrutopian” stories that mend our relationships with ourselves, each other, and our planet.
Her words had offered us a new perspective, a lens through which we could see the beauty in our journey. She has shaped our story as @surmeyi and today we are overjoyed to be a small medium for her story.
A HUGE shout out to @aashna_dev for capturing this so exquisitely.
A Summer Sunday 🥭🌞

We cherish the narrative arc of our products, archiving them from time to time to make space for new tales to unfold. Just as every story has a beginning and an end, so do the products in our lineup.
The Mango Jhumka will be the first to join the archives. We are doing one final run, and in case you missed it, please place your orders before June 23rd if you’d like to own this soon-to-be-archival piece.
We look forward to sending a beautifully crafted brass bookmark as a little souvenir to everyone who has ordered the Jhumka! ✨
As we prepare to archive the Jhumka, we fondly reminisce about its creation. We love when we are able to give shape to a feeling, and this is one story we’re especially proud of.
It’s hard to explain, but it gives us immense joy to personally know each of you who will be the keepers of this story. Soon, there will be 69 mango jhumkas out in the world, and in case you missed it, we are taking orders for one final run! 🥭
