Slow groove with internal dynamics and shaping. In addition continuing to explore more frenetic rhythms, I’ve had a deep interest the past few years in exploring different ways of playing slower pockets.
Got a chance to perform some new music last week with @shermvn and @stephenpatota . This is a bit of Ziaire’s solo on his song “Average.” Also, shoutout to @devinzbrooks and company at @radioartifact and @urban.artifact ! The room sounds so good, and I can’t wait to be back.
Drum n bass (ish) exploration with True Fitness from last week’s show. Discovering these types of sonic areas in real time is one of my favorite things about this band. Brandon couldn’t make it due to being under the weather, but we’ll be in full force at our next show. Also, we’ve been working on mixing and editing our first record!
Abstractions and other such things will be going down this Sunday night at the Comet with Brandon, Joe, and Matt. We’ll be joined by Pete Fosco. Show starts at 9pm.
Got too pumped working on this iconic groove with a student today. I love this beat, this drummer, and this album so much. I hadn’t played this groove in a while, and it’s surprisingly challenging to get it to sit the way this legendary drummer does, especially when not playing to the recording or a click. Anybody know what song this is?
