Taking a moment to stop and reflect on the last year and boy has it been one heck of a year!! For those of you who don’t know me… Hi! I’m Jamea Marlowe (founder & CEO of The Broken Crayon) and I am a licensed elementary art teacher and I had been for a several years. I quit teaching at the end of the 2021- 2022 school year and boy was I heart broken. I absolutely loved teaching children art and I loved my students but as we all know teachers are under paid and not supported…. So I quit and started my own art studio for kids! In this last year I have started The Broken Crayon, made some amazing new business friendships, been on the news like 4 times, was awarded @charlottemag B.O.B award, hosted over 15 kid’s birthday parties, hosted over 30 free kids art events in @campnorthend , made custom coloring books for the @hornets and @southparkclt , and so much more! I am so grateful and so appreciative of everyone who has supported my small business, whether you have liked, shared, or reposted anything. REGISTRATION OPENS TOMORROW for @the.brokencrayon Kids Club Summer arts Festival!! It’s that time of the year for our summer arts festival and we cannot wait! The mission of The Broken Crayons Kids Club Summer Arts Fest is to expand creative and educational experiences for children and their families. This is a FREE community festival for children that consist of art workshops, vendor market, face painting, sweet treats, fire trucks with foam, and so much more!! The Broken Crayon is pleased to partner with the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art at Levine Center for the Arts ( @thebechtler ) for a special block printing design session during July’s Wednesday Night Live. This engaging workshop, geared toward adults but open to all ages, will take place in the museum’s iconic lobby from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Participants can expect an evening filled with creativity, music, and a lively atmosphere as they embark on the journey of creating their own block prints.   With the guidance and expertise of our staff, attendees will be inspired to explore different patterns and colors to craft their unique designs. Using wooden blocks and water-based block printing ink on cotton rag paper, you will recieve The Broken Crayons guide to block printing composition, and printing techniques.
