Few people can count #KimKardashian , #PalomaElsesser and #LawRoach among their followers — but few people are like Kim Russell, BAZAAR Australia’s June 2024 digital cover star. The Perth-based 28-year-old is a stylist, fashion historian and critic, mother, and an Instagram creator better known by her username @thekimbino . She’s garnered a following for her unique photoshopped dream styling moments — Hailey Bieber in Margiela, Beyoncé in Alaïa, even Daenerys Targaryen in Diesel — and for her witty, incisive takes on archival and modern fashion moments. Now, having built a name for herself online, the IRL world is finally awakening to her influence. “I’m not doing it in the wrong way, it’s just not traditional … but everyone’s path to fashion is different,” she tells BAZAAR’s @danimaherr of her unconventional entry to the fashion industry, which she hopes offers inspiration to the next generation. “If I had had someone like [myself] to look up to or find inspiration in, maybe it wouldn’t have taken me so long to have the courage, or [to think] like, I could do this.
