💜 Happy World Vitiligo Day! 💜 I was so happy to attend the Minnesota premiere of “More than Our Skin” at Showplace Icon Theaters tonight! What a special film featuring familiar and beloved faces in the vitiligo community. Vitiligo Awareness Month 💜 Another purpose of advocacy is to make connections with lawmakers and decision makers to help them better understand your cause. I want to ensure insurance companies pay for vitiligo treatment for those that seek it. I want to ensure scientific research is funded to help treat vitiligo and other skin conditions. I want lawmakers to vote for policies that support these concerns. I attended Youth Day at the Capitol this February where I met Minnesota State Senator Alice Mann @senalicemann and Representative Heather Edelson @heatheredelson and discussed my concerns and shared my story. It was easy and fun! I encourage you to meet with your elected officials on topics that are important to you! BELIZE DAY 2 RECAP We slept in this rainy morning before dropping off some school supplies to donate. The @internationaljuniormiss queens delivered them to a school in town! A week ago I was enjoying the excitement of the Kentucky / Tennessee pageant and it was jam packed with Interview and the Princess, Junior Pre-Teen, and Pre-Teen Finales! I had so much fun encouraging the girls awaiting their interviews. Interview is a great way to practice sharing your story and talking to adults. I've captured numerous opportunities in part due to my ability to interview well, which is a skill be so useful throughout life. The finales on Saturday night celebrated all the amazing girls in the Junior Divisions (Princess, Jr. Pre-Teen, and Pre-Teen). I had so much fun attending and helping out along with the reigning Kentucky and Tennessee State Queens, Visiting Royalty, and National Queens (plus the awesome Team Leverton staff).
