✨CALLING ALL #ThoughtWarriors✨ There has been a lot of talk about rappers using the N-word in their music and white audiences singing the word as a lyric in their song. We know how we feel, but why do you feel like you can say it at all? @vanlathan and I want to hear the other side of it… Come on the podcast and let’s discuss. Drop a line below if you want to talk it out👇🏾

The first step to joining the fight for Gun Reform is to educate yourself. I’m so thankful the Executive Director of Guns Down America @igorvolskygram joined @higherlearning to do exactly that. We cannot become desensitized to these continuous massacres in our communities. For more ways you can get involved, please visit GunsDownAmerica.org or refer to my previous post with resources and organizations to donate to.

This was by far one of thee hardest interviews I have ever done. I spoke with my friend Cheslie’s mother and stepfather, April and David. We spoke about mental health, being a friend to people that are struggling, and why we need to do more than just check on our friends. Thank you for your strength, vulnerability, and time. Thank you for honoring Cheslie, her legacy and for educating/informing us on mental health. May is mental health awareness month. If you or someone you know is having a tough time, please reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 📞

So honored to announce that @allwomeninmedia named me this year’s #GracieAwards Ambassador 💫 This is such a special moment for me as I think about all the women in my own life who have personally lifted me up along my own journey. The women who have been honored, both past and present, are exemplenary and deserve all of the applause and endless flowers for the work they continue to do on all of our behalf. #TheGracies 💐

On the last day of #WomensHistoryMonth , I want to honor @robinrobertsgma — a person who’s served as a deep inspiration for me and so many other Black women pursuing a career in media. I encourage everyone to get familiar with her story — from being a hooper in college to transitioning into sports journalism to then crossing over into anchoring @GMA . She’s an inspiration for a number of reasons including using her battle with breast cancer to inspire us all. She is and will forever be the moment and I’m so thankful for the doors she’s opened that have allowed me to take up space in this industry! 💕

Ketanji Brown is BRILLIANT and I’m so honored that she is representing Black women with grace as she is steps away from history. But I would be lying if I said watching her confirmation is easy or even something I’ve been able to sit through. Far too many women that look like me know exactly what it feels like to be questioned, gaslit, talked down on, and degraded the way Ketanji has and it only reaffirms how little respect American society has for Black women.
