Democracy is under attack in Wisconsin. So we enlisted Ben Wikler, chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, to break down what’s happening on the ground in one of the most important battleground states. • How will Wisconsin’s new liberal majority on the state supreme court affect the 2024 election? • Why are Republican attempting to impeach a newly elected state supreme court justice? • What are Joe Biden’s chances in Wisconsin and could Donald Trump really pull off a victory? We’ve got questions, @wisdems has answers.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) wants to talk about loneliness. He entered the Senate a month after the Sandy Hook shooting in his home state and became widely known as one of the chamber’s staunchest gun control advocates. Now, Murphy has another cause central to his work in Congress: social connection — or lack thereof. Murphy calls it a “spiritual crisis” and introduced legislation to establish an Office of Social Connection. @senchrismurphy joins us to discuss loneliness, the pandemic, social media, and where congressional policy can come into play.

Michigan State Sen. @mallorymcmorrow went viral last spring when she delivered a powerful speech denouncing a colleague who accused her of “grooming” in a fundraising email. Now, a year later, she’s the Majority Whip in Democrats’ newly obtained state Senate majority, which they won in 2022 when they shocked the country and flipped both chambers of the state legislature. Those new, narrow majorities in Michigan have resulted in a chunk of progressive policies this legislative session, including a repeal of the state’s abortion ban, expansion of LGBTQ non-discrimination protections, reversal of anti-union “right to work” laws, and tightening of gun safety measures. We talked to Sen. McMorrow about culture wars, the 2024 political landscape, and what Democrats in D.C. could learn from Michigan’s example.

Nebraska’s @senatormachaela (D) went mega-viral for filibustering the state’s anti-trans legislation that would outlaw gender-affirming care for minors. Seven weeks later, she’s still at it — and shows no signs of stopping. Not a single bill has passed during Nebraska’s 90-day legislative session so far thanks to Cavanaugh’s persistence. We caught up with the state senator to get an update on where things stand, why this fight hits so close to home, and how she plans to proceed from here. Sen. Cavanaugh jumps in at 2:10.

How can we make running for Congress accessible to young people? Should Biden run for a second term? How can Democrats win Cuban voters back? Florida Congressional candidate @maxwellfrostfl breaks it down.

@repdavidcicilline breaks down why Trumpism is the biggest threat to our democracy, backs up Biden's semi-fascist comment, and shares why he thinks Democrats will win the November midterms.

About one person a day is killed by police while attempting to flee. Unsurprisingly, Black people are over-represented in those numbers. @guardian_us Senior Reporter Sam Levin explains.
