Amazing lineup - Friday I had a small part in helping this show come together but the big story is giant music that does everything you need music to do. I wrote extensively about the Silt Trio's concert @jazzgalerie_nickelsdorf in 2022 for @the.attic.magazine and now you can hear their exquisite full-bodiedness on the West Coast 🌬️🎙️🦓 At a great venue in San Pedro doing rigorous wildness 🦕🪇🐛 I'll be playing a bunch of music by these artists @kchungradio today beginning at 1pm PST

The 88th day of the year is often used to celebrate the piano. This car fell apart 20+ years ago driving back from visiting Drumbo in Lancaster w/ @tendollarcurry , who helped me document it in its final form

Samantha Simmons plays solo this Wednesday @heavymannerslibrary . She is a Berlin and Los Angeles-based sound artist and selector who investigates the transformative process of sound in contemporary culture through her research in sound installation and composition. Drawing from her experience in radio and residencies at platforms like WFMU, NTS, and Dublab, she explores how sound installation and composition can represent the transformation of sound in the listening process. She researches the constant flux of processing our collective sound environment: how sound is recycled and re-consumed to shape our listening experience in a process she calls a recycled listening. She has performed in three continents and whooped it up in all of them. / This video is an excerpt from a solo set by her at Reef Gallery

A night of double bass and bass clarinet music - time to get sensitive to space and the low hum of the lungs and knuckles 🌬️🎙️🎶 Lucio Capece is an Argentinian experimental musician based in Berlin since 2004. He uses tools like Flying Speakers hanging from Helium Balloons moved by propellers, Speakers as Pendulums, Analog synthesiser, Sine Waves and Noise Generators, Drum Machines, Ultra- Violet Lights, Sensors and the instruments he has played for 25 years: Bass Clarinet and Soprano and Slide Saxophone. Beyond instrumentation and tools, the main intention is to focus in the physical-social-spatial human experience. As a performer he has worked with Pauline Oliveros, Peter Ablinger, Antoine Beuger, Michael Pisaro, Alex Arteaga, Christian Wolff, Phill Niblock, Radu Malfatti, Keith Rowe, Andrea Neumann, Cat Lamb, Katie Porter and many others. 🦕🫧🪵 Werner Dafeldecker makes high octane meditative music. He was born in 1964 and studied bass in Vienna; he has been working in Berlin for the last two decades +. In the past, he has played jazz, rock, and new music, and has been commissioned for compositions by Konzerthaus Wien and ORF, among others. Co-founder of the bands Polwechsel and Shobotinski, this Viennese musician started up an avant-garde label -- Durian Records -- in 1995, and can also be found on recordings for the Hat Art, Extraplatte, and Random Acoustics labels 🦦🐛🫚 The evening will culminate in a trio improvisation featuring Wild Don Lewis on electric bowed bass guitar. Known solo as Small Drone Orchestra, Lewis is a stalwart of the Los Angeles underground, bringing a magician's touch to sonic extremes. A first-time meeting with two of Berlin's most notorious code-switching sonic daredevils. Graphics thanks to @devinsarno
