The inspiration for Thriftholic finds its roots in Mexico's bustling streets and colourful markets. Raised in a household where financial constraints often meant preceding second-hand clothing, my parents did their best, but the struggle was real. It was my grandmother, my beloved "abuelita," who became my guiding light, my second mom, teaching me lessons that would shape the core of our brand.
Together, we embarked on weekly adventures to the flea market—a treasure trove of hidden gems waiting to be discovered. My Abuelita, with her keen eye and seasoned expertise, imparted to me the art of selecting the finest items. She showed me how to inspect every detail, appreciate textures, scrutinize tags, and recognize the beauty in pre-loved pieces. Eagerly waiting for Monday or Wednesday, are etched in my memory as moments of pure joy and discovery.
Growing up in a society that often frowned upon second-hand clothing and prioritized fast fashion, I felt the weight of insecurity and shame.
A small business born out of love and dedication. Thank you for being a part of this heartfelt endeavour.
