Lost Pet Prevention Month: Microchip Your Pets! July is National Lost Pet Prevention Month, losing a pet can be traumatic, but microchipping can help. Microchips are tiny, grain-sized devices implanted under your pet's skin, encoded with a unique number linked to your contact info. If your pet gets lost, any vet or shelter can scan the chip and contact you. Papa's Story: Papa, a 10-year-old Chihuahua, ran away during a fireworks display. Despite posters and social media efforts, he was missing for 14 days until a shelter scanned his microchip and reunited him with his family. "Having him microchipped saved his life – and mine," shared Hannah, his pet parent. Microchip your pets to keep them safe and reunite more lost pets with their families! ~ Learn more: /pet-microchipping-preventing-lost-pets-from-entering-the-shelter-system/

Adoptable Animal Presented by Amazon: Bailey With a big personality and an even bigger heart, Bailey just may be your new best friend. What's not to love about Bailey? He is handsome, has house manners, can be independent, and is excited to play with other dogs! Bailey's everlasting companionship is not a question of possibility, but rather who will be the lucky one to invite this sweetheart into their life? While he's working towards being the best boy he can be, he's still getting over the hurdle of being comfortable in new environments. The best way to help Bailey is to be patient with him and help pair positive experiences (such as giving him his favourite treats) with being in new environments. Because Bailey is a playful, energetic dog, he would be happy to have a canine sibling in his forever home. He is very forward when he plays, so having a dog that can match his energy levels would be ideal. He is respectful of children so long as they understand his strength. Bailey would do well in a home that is willing to take him outdoors for exploration and exercise. Whether it be backyard zoomies, or trailblazing during a hike, Bailey is your go-to outdoor enthusiast! ~ Visit us at 11 River Street to start the adoption process. Any questions can be sent to adoption@torontohumanesociety.com

#HappyTails Presented by ROYALE®: Hank Thought it was about time to update you all on your fellow cutie Hank, previously named Otter! 3 months ago, our lives became 728383x more magical when we brought our good boy home to give him a safe and loving place to recover from all his ailments. Who once used to be a doorway hating doggo is now a confident, loving, respectful boy who is living the high life on Queen’s Quay! He is walking excellently on leash we barely have to hold it at this point. He loves attention and affection from both humans and other dogs. Making new friends is one of his favourite things to do! He is officially crate trained too! He loves to snuggle into his “house” while we are at work, but Lauren looks forward to coming home on some of her lunches to a happy boy and a VERY waggy tail. We can’t thank you all enough for helping us through this life-changing process. What was lifelike before Hank? ~ If you would like to share your Happy Tail on our website and social media, please send us a photos and story at happytails@torontohumanesociety.com.
