It’s National Mai Tai day!
August 30 is National Mai Tai Day, celebrating the day Victor “Trader Vic” Bergeron created the legendary cocktail in Oakland, California, 79 years ago today.
As the story goes, Trader Vic served his new creation to friends, and upon first sip his guest proclaimed, “Mai Tai — Roa Ae” in Tahitian, which translates to “Out of this world — the best.”
