sophie absolutely destroyed this one. she and amava came into a session wanting to write some epic shit about being truly iconic and having your haters completely obsessed with you and never letting it go. we started with a baseline and they got into it immediately. absolutely love this one, we got on some punk ballad hyperpop guitar shredding insanity here. truly original , truly iconic , can’t wait for y’all to hear what else we cookin’ up. world ain’t ready for this scene. thanks to @nikobattistini for the insane mix and to @akselcoedrums for laying down some drums.
It finally happened. We wrote a Christmas song and it’s out now. Taking my humble place in the tradition of Jewish Xmas songwriters (sorry mom) 😂…Benedict Royale and I hope it brings you a little smile and some cheer as you spend time with family and friends over the holidays.
This was a true labor of love!!! And might be one of the most epic Xmas songs out there.
@trulykingjohn had the idea to do a Xmas song and he brought me some great lyrics from our bud Benton Bohannon. I took them to the piano and enetered them into the D-Tron holiday song matrix and came up with the melody and chords. We brought in the master himself “Miracle” Max Drummey to add all the crazy string and horn arranging. We played many instruments, we laughed, we cried, and we fought our way to the finish line. This song almost died a few times, but Johnster the Monster pushed us through the finish line. 🙏🏼

Wow.. when mia first walked in the room and played song this for me, I was 100% floored. I couldn’t believe her breadth as an artist to have written lyrics like ‘mommy said don’t talk to strangers, fuck me hard and order take out’ and then to have pulled off the subtle, perhaps a little more elegant, poetry of the ones in this song. it’s really inspiring to be around someone who has such an expansive view of the world and of what they want to say. I had so much fun being able to experiment on the production for this one, thank you mia for trusting me. and! thank you @nikobattistini for the mix.
