And he’s off. As quick as they arrive, they depart. It seems like yesterday that @kingcyru5 arrived in our lives and now he’s off on an adventure of his own. Spending the next 3 months in Donegal, Ireland as part of a Gap Year program where he will study photography, fine arts, jewelry making, ceramics and a bunch of other artsy things. Have the time of your life and take every opportunity afforded you. We love you to pieces and can’t wait to hear all about it.

Tim was such a beautiful addition to my life on this day in 2003. Those of you who’ve been on this ride with us know that I was anxiously awaiting a child in my life, not a man. Being a dad was my life’s goal and I was laser-focused on making this happen. And then came Tim.
When we met, there was an instant connection that was easy and lots of fun. We are polar opposites in many ways, but it worked. Being together was a complete joy.
Fast forward to February 2005 when Grady came into our lives. If we weren’t already on cloud nine, she kicked up the buzz a million times. We really enjoyed fostering her and spent everyday in disbelief that she was in our home. How were we so lucky? It was a lot of hard work but we were in it together and really leaned into the notion of “teamwork makes the dreamwork”. Still giddy about Grady, we get a call a few months later about Cyrus. It was too good to be true but incredibly scary to have two kids under the age of 1 but we took a chance and kept it moving.
Going through this with Tim, I knew that I made the right choice and that we would always be a team, that supports one another through good times and bad.
Here we are 20 years later, with young adults as our kids, lots of stories and adventures and a love deeper than ever imagined.

When I say that I am so proud of you @kingcyru5 know that it is with BASS in my throat and FIRE in my heart. You are a soldier and won this battle. You left a mark @theclintonschoolnyc and challenged yourself & others which not many people do in this world. Being 1 of 2 black males in a class of 124 students was not always easy but you stayed true to who you are. You are genuine and kind and a great friend. You are tough but equally as tender which Papi would say is the Gemini in you. I don’t follow that astrology stuff but you are a GEM and I am eternally grateful to call you my boy. “That’s my boy” I am honored and humbled to have been blessed with you and I love you beyond words. I wholeheartedly believe that you will change this world in ways that you can’t even imagine. Dig deep, work hard, live with passion, be compassionate, never settle and know that anything is possible. Congratulations Dad x🖤🖤
