USIHC member Alicia Flanigan of @fireandiceicelandics has qualified to ride in the B-Flokk adult division at @landsmot2024 , Iceland’s national horse show! Tune in tomorrow to watch Alicia and her horse Feykir fra Mosfellsbær compete. They will be riding in group 22 of the B-flokkur first round, scheduled to start at 8:55 AM PDT / 11:55 AM EDT / 3:55 PM GMT. Landsmót can be live-streamed through an @alendis.tv subscription. Participating in this international event is a dream come true for each of them, reflecting their passion and commitment to the Icelandic horse. The FEIF Youth Cup is a bi-annual event focused on uniting people through their love for the Icelandic horse. Riders aged 14-17 from approximately 23 countries will undergo a week of training with international instructors, culminating in a competition featuring a range of youth classes both on and off the oval track.

Congratulations to the 2024 USIHC FEIF Youth Cup Team! The following riders will be representing the US at the 2024 FEIF Youth Cup in Münsingen, Switzerland July 13-21. Greta Alsauskas Liesl Kolbe Brynja Meehan Miette Jennings The FEIF Youth Cup is a bi-annual event for riders aged 14-17. It focuses on teamwork, sportsmanship, improved riding skills, and cross-cultural friendships. The week-long event features intense training with renowned international instructors and culminates in a competition with various youth classes. Tryouts were held in combination with the 2023 Virtual Fall Show. You can support these talented riders by donating to the USIHC Youth Fund: /donations

Kathy Love was presented her USIHC Lifetime Achievement Medals at the Spring Gamankeppni Show organized by @taktur_horse . Kathy earned her Silver medals in Tölt and Four Gait and her stallion Pegasus frá Skyggni earned his Gold medals in Tölt and Four Gait. The USIHC Lifetime Achievement Awards began in 2023 and are awarded to individuals and horses who achieve certain success benchmarks throughout their competition career in sport. Over 50 medals have been awarded at levels from Pewter to Platinum since the program's start. Join us May 13 for the first (virtual) meeting of the new USIHC Book Club! The book club is a project of the education committee creating a space for our members to learn together with their US Icelandic horse community using books recommended by US Horse Trainers. The first book will be The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle. While not expressly about horses, this book discusses the secret of fostering talent in ourselves and others, a concept applicable to riders looking to unlock how to improve their own skills as well as riding instructors seeking to foster talents in others. Introducing the USIHC Lifetime Achievement Medals 🏅These medals are awarded to individuals and horses who achieve certain success benchmarks throughout their competition career in Icelandic horse sport. Similar to established programs in dressage and working equitation, the Lifetime Achievement Medals recognize and reward overall progress and consistent dedication over the course of a participant’s competitive journey. Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must submit six qualifying preliminary round scores. If a contributing competition has fewer than three judges, the same judge or exact same judge combination cannot contribute to more than three qualifying scores, except in cases when that judge or combination of judges are part of a team of four or five judges. Scores submitted must be from US shows or from international competitions where horse or rider competed as a representative of the United States, such as the FEIF Youth Cup and the World Championships.
