17 years ago, I was looking for a job in New York City. I came across an ice cream truck and wondered why they weren’t selling ice cream with very good ingredients. I thought it would be a good idea to start doing that. I asked my girlfriend at the time, Laura O’Neill, and my brother Peter if they would like to make and sell ice cream off of a truck with me. A year later, we started Van Leeuwen, selling our first scoop in downtown Manhattan. This week marks our 16th year in business. Thank you to our past and current team. Working with you to bring good ice cream to so many people every year is the best part. Here are some early photos. - Ben
