This photo is of the Black-crowned Night Heron, one of the first birds I photographed when I started bird photography. A couple of years ago, my friend Joe introduced me to this incredible hobby, and it has stuck with me ever since. When I go out birding, Joe is always in my thoughts, with the miles I walk and the efforts I undertake to capture these images.
Unfortunately, Joe has been facing some physical medical challenges lately. The days I do go out birding, it’s with this brother in mind, and these shots are dedicated to him. This particular bird, whom Joe named Oliver..

Using the OM Systems OM1 Mk II has significantly enhanced my bird photography. The AI bird focusing and precision are outstanding, tracking subjects seamlessly even with slight obstructions, allowing me to capture intricate details with ease. The 300mm f/4 lens stands out for its sharpness and unique character, rendering each shot beautifully. It’s always a great experience shooting with this camera, and it has become my go-to for wildlife photography.
This shot is of a mother American black duck and her ducklings. I was sitting on a rock capturing some landscape when I heard some chirping. I looked over to my left and saw them swimming by.

I’ve been an owner of an OM Systems camera for about a month now, dedicating my time to a personal project: capturing up-close portraits of various bird species.
