one thing that really impresses me about @nicolacoughlan : her consistent advocacy re: Gaza. we spoke about it at length in our cover story - not something many famous people are willing to do - and I hope you’ll take the time to read it. this photo is her wearing her ceasefire pin, a constant, at the Big Mood premiere in NYC. as Bridgerton season 3 has premiered, and attention on her has skyrocketed, she’s taken to posting on her IG stories about Rafah, pointing people to fundraisers to aid those in need in this humanitarian crisis, as she’s been doing for months and months. a note that the @artistsforceasefire statement calls for both an immediate release of the hostages and an end to the bombing in Gaza. swipe for details and context.
I know she would only say it’s something small, but it’s hard for me to overstate how unique this is - how few people in her position are doing this, at this level. and it hasn’t been easy. she’s faced blowback, as have most people on this issue. she may lose work because of it. but she is steady in her beliefs and moral clarity, and has been wearing that ceasefire pin to every bridgerton premiere, red carpet, etc., as her platform only grows and grows.
also of significance: this advocacy has inspired her fans to create their own fundraisers for Gaza. my life thesis: fandom as a force for good. to see this beautiful theory in action gives me hope.
