Rewind to early in 2018 and @carolinewozniacki – the first and only #Scandinavian female tennis player to rank as world number one, a title she held for a total of 71 weeks – is laying flat on her back in a Melbourne stadium, having just defeated Romanian star #SimonaHalep in the Australian Open grand final, making her the first Dane to ever secure a major singles title. Less than two years after her Grand Slam triumph, Wozniacki was flat on her back again, but this time due to pain. She was bed-bound with what was later diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic inflammatory disease that brought her so much discomfort that she couldn’t even brush her hair or teeth. “It’s a disease that attacks my own joints, and it’s something that I’ve got to live with for the rest of my life.” Tap the link in @voguescandinavia ’s bio to read more.
