our next step in releasing our upcoming thompson berwick & pratt home is booking an appointment at the archive at the university of british columbia.
uncovering 6 perfectly preserved boxes in the archive, we’ve found a collection of original thompson berwick & pratt architectural records dating back to the 1930s. these photographs, textual records, and architectural drawings will soon be available in our monograph released this friday.

your father, ned pratt, is often quoted as a pivotal force in laying the ground for the development of modern architecture on the canadian west coast. what was it like growing up and how has he influenced you?
“growing up under my father was intense - he was larger than life and it was sometimes challenging but it was always a lot of fun. he was always full of mischief and he had a great sense of humour. he has influenced my sense of design and appreciation for simplicity; solving the most important core big issues and keeping things streamlined.”
what is the ned pratt legacy?
“pratt helped shape the careers of so many other renowned architects ron thom, fred hollingsworth and barry downs and steered them and others towards a more rationalist and pragmatic design approach…”
