Xicaru – the Zapotec word for beautiful – reflects our desire to share a traditionally produced mezcal that is truly beautiful, approachable and distinct. We make Xicaru Mezcal Artesanal using time-honored methods in Oaxaca, Mexico.
From start to finish, Xicaru is a mezcal steeped in tradition: The maguey is harvested by hand and roasted in an underground stone oven fueled by woods native to Oaxaca. A horse-drawn tahona is used to press the maguey which is then naturally fermented in open-air pine vats. It is double distilled in copper alembics, one small batch at a time.
