A couple finishing touches on the fridge setup, courtesy of @evolvelouisiana . Light, outlet, barn door automatic closers. We still need to do a very deep fridge cleaning and a few more details but should be open again before the weekend. Receipts are posted to the GoFundMe which we have left open for now. And ... announcing that our new shed artist will be ..... Brad Jensen sometime in August. @iconbrad

Dalton Spangler comes down all in for d.sablu in the July AntiGravity. Copies of No True Silence (YWC011) still available on our Bandcamp/Big Cartel, from the band, and in NOLA record stores (plus maybe 1 or so at Capital City Records here in town.)

YWC006-2024 Helen Gillet - Tonnerre is out tomorrow, July 1st /product/helen-gillet-45 This is the second release in Cannibal Singles, after Crush Diamond. It got hung up at the printer for an extra month but is now here. Pre-orders and club subscribers orders are going out tomorrow. Helen first played at YWC in April 2022 and brought a record player with an old 45 of Charles DeGaulle. This piece, Tonnerre, was recorded at the show - a propulsive mix of fierce cello, analogue soundbites and static. It's a super punk side of Helen and recalls cellist Tristan Honsinger in his work with the Pop Group or The Ex. Liner notes here take the form of a prose poem by Max Cafard, offering a context for the piece and how it relates to empire and fascism, with cover collage art by October YWC exhibiting artist elin o'Hara slavick. Heavy jacket and insert, limited to 200 copies. $10 on our site (big cartel or bandcamp) or in person. DM us if you want to swing by to get one outside of event hours.

The big winner is that old fast food drive thru by the stadium with all the surrealist graffiti about the cops though

TOMORROW Saturday June 29th 2024 CRASIS (De)Monstro at 5 pm Whoever you are, you really don't want to miss this one. This is some high concept freakout and the odds you'll regret coming approach zero. Its an early event in the chill of our fancy AC, a respite from the heat dome and a dive into total weirdness, if videos from last night's show at Intracoastal Club are any indication. There will be CRASIS zines for sale (along with cold beer, topo, popcorn, and 45s). More info: The artists - Andy P. Davids and Anne Lukins - behind CRASIS write: (De)monstro is a participatory ritual, blending spoken word, music, puppet theater, and sacred clowning. From a queer, eco-feminist perspective, (De)monstro honors destruction in service of life. Props, puppets, and costumes are made from foraged plant and fungal materials, as well as salvaged textiles, wood, metal, and papier-mâché. Audience members are invited to participate in creating sound for the ritual using handmade devices, and by feeding the monsters chunks of reality to be magically destroyed.

Another update. Shelves are installed and the builder is basically done. We need to reattach the electric tomorrow, replace the trashcan, and post our new instructions etc poster. We should be open again over the weekend. This is a great time to get involved with the fridge for anyone out there who has been meaning to or just been curious. Keep your eyes out for more info on how to do so, posted here in coming days. A local artist will be painting the fridge later in the summer too.
