With #ExtremeHeat on the rise, it’s essential for everyone, including @zoomiami animal friends 🐘 to stay cool and hydrated. We’re honored to have teamed up with @zoomiami and @miamidadefirerescue for an enrichment opportunity to help elephants like Nellie stay cool and make a splash with @miamidadewater .
Meerkat roll call! In honor of #WorldMeerkatDay , meet our resident mob (and yes, a group of meerkats is really called a mob!):
🐱 Joe - Though not the friendliest,he’s opened up to his keepers in the last few years. He’s shy and rarely stays still for photos!
🐱 Diego - This gentle guy is our second oldest male. He loves training and is very good at it. The goodest guy.
🐱 Yam Yam is our matriarch and oldest meerkat. She’s always been timid, but in her older age, she’s much sweeter and seeks interaction with her keepers! She’s mama to our youngest, Yuca.
🐱 Yuca- The youngest and most mischievous! He’s the most high energy and is very comfortable with his keepers, who have known him since he was born. He usually acts as sentry for the group.

The wait is finally over - Gigi's Children's Maze opens this Thursday, July 4th! 🦒 Join us at 1:00PM in the Asia section (between the Hyena & Addra gazelle habitats) for a very special ribbon cutting by Commissioner Kionne L.
