Democrats keep warning about Donald Trump. So do many of his former friends. On Friday, former Vice President Mike Pence announced he would not be endorsing his former boss this year, saying he could not give his endorsement “in good conscience” — a remarkable rebuke from Trump’s former #2 . Just as remarkable: He’s not the only one. A startling number of the former president’s former top aides have taken to warning the public about his character, beliefs, and mental state. In an election without precedent, featuring a candidate running a campaign without precedent, the warnings are still stunning. Swipe to see what they have to say.

People who go to certain bars or clubs in California can now get testing kits to make sure their drinks aren’t spiked. A new law took effect Monday that requires bars and clubs that serve alcohol to provide date rape drug testing kits to customers. The kits must test for at least one substance, including Rohypnol, ketamine, and GHB. The law is scheduled to be repealed January 1, 2027, unless lawmakers extend it. The law applies to about 2,400 establishments that serve alcohol but are not required to serve food. But while the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control says the onus is on bars and clubs to make sure test kits aren't expired, they are not responsible for defective tests or inaccurate results. And the bill's sponsor, State Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal, says the law is focused more on awareness and prevention rather than catching perpetrators. Some cities, such as New York and Boston, passed laws in the mid-2000s to address safety concerns at nightlife establishments, And New York City is currently considering legislation to require such establishments to train employees about harassment and to post signs that inform customers about the danger at these locations. This comes as a growing number of young American adults are opting to drink less — and amid growing attention about drink-spiking, including among college students. Swipe for more details.

Stormy Daniels claims Trump is trying to take her partner’s house, and wants identifying information about her 13-year-old daughter. In an exclusive interview with Rachel Maddow, Daniels says she is suffering the financial consequences even though Trump was convicted. Daniels, who owes more than $600,000 in legal fees in a failed defamation suit against Trump, says Trump’s legal team recently served her and wants to take her partner’s house. She also says she’s at risk of being held in contempt of court for failing to include her teenage daughter’s personal information on a required form. “Why do you need that about a child?” Daniels said.

Donald Trump won’t find out if he’ll go to prison until September at the earliest. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court granted broad immunity protections for official actions taken by presidents. Juan Merchan, the judge overseeing Trump’s hush money case, has agreed to push back Trump’s sentencing to at least September 18, to consider whether that Supreme Court ruling — which left to lower courts the responsibility of determining what constitutes an official act — affects the conviction altogether. The move came after Trump’s lawyers argued that the high court’s decision voids the felony convictions. The Manhattan district attorney’s office said they believed the motion was “without merit,” but didn’t oppose pushing back sentencing for two weeks. Merchan said he would rule on Trump’s motion September 6, and the next court date would be September 18 “if such is still necessary.” Previously, the former president faced a July 11 sentencing date, which would’ve been days before he would receive the GOP nomination for president at the Republican National Convention. A jury in May convicted Trump on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments to porn actor Stormy Daniels. Trump faces up to four years in prison, though many believe that he would receive a lesser sentence or probation, should the conviction hold.

Nancy Pelosi says people are justified in wanting to scrutinize President Biden after the debate: “I think it’s a legitimate question to say, ‘Is this an episode or is this a condition?’” But she says Donald Trump deserves the same criticism.

Before it was the Obamas’ summertime retreat, Martha’s Vineyard was home to a thriving Deaf community — and its own sign language dialect. In the secluded town of Chilmark, 1 in 25 residents were Deaf. But the ratio of people who used the island’s sign language was closer to 25 in 25. In honor of Disability Pride Month, here’s a little-known piece of disability history about what’s possible when inclusion isn’t optional — it’s required. *If you need a transcript to access this video, DM us!*
