💗💗💗🐸🐸🐸🐸⚔️⚔️⚔️experience #performativedesign “UNIONIZE” by #therodina // Unionize is an imperative – the performative utterance calling the multitude of human beings to look for our #commons . Only together, we can step out of precarious conditions, control or transform existing #powerstructures and invisible infrastructures into a more equal world of #solidarity
Traditionally unions represented mostly an economic interest of a group of workers based on a certain type of industry. The working-time is no longer relevant measure and most of worker’s desires, ideals, and dreams are commodified. Facing the contemporary crisis of Platform Capitalism, we have to experiment what the union can be and how it can operate. Therefore UNIONIZE is an attempt to invite visitors into a temporary union and establish common interests through “performative design”. The act of signing or “participation” is an act of transformation - the liminal experience of becoming a member. The part of the union that connects and emancipates all the users-playbourers, immaterial, material and self-exploitative workers.
Unionize is an uprising of a flexible creative worker inhabiting the empty metal structure, spending her time producing shiny and colourful surfaces. Exhausted from working constantly. Each of her moves is observed, her being is completely transparent, soaked into the grid of Capitalism. There is no space for privacy or any sort of comfort. Working-time and free-time are unified in one never-ending shift. How can we design situations and environments that encourage activity and participation leading toward the transformation in a viewer or a social context?

Poring the Ecocide 🫠 reveals ecological disasters of the energy industry that can be witnessed via hundred-thirty pores. Enter these portal-pores to explore various computer-generated spaces and collect evidence of individual incidents, in forms of pore-tokens. Through this you directly engage in the symptomatic consumption of the ecosystem – the Ecophagy.

“Porous events” as noted by Nancy Tuana* are ecological disasters that penetrate the surface of our reality. “Portals” act as Pores revealing information about the ecocidical events. Entering the portal means activating the Pore and exposing such realities.
A viscous porosity of natural and human-made has become increasingly clear in the last decades, especially though such palpable manifestations of climate change, like upsurge in the frequency of droughts, storms, fires, floods, and hurricanes. Still, we often view nature as subdued through technology as a result of a one-sided view positing that human agency affects natural order instead of acknowledging that the opposite may apply, if not the constant interaction of and porosity between the two is the closest to the truth.
This porosity that undermines any effort to make an ontological division between natural and cultural, inevitably blurs the boundaries between virtual and actual, real and possible, and points toward a permanence of interactions that give life to phenomena in constant becoming. Computer-generated realities are such life-worlds: malleable and dynamic. Despite their elusiveness they are inherently material and are in dire need for energy – therefore earthly resources. Extraction of these has an immediate influence on ecosystems in which we and such technologies are embedded. #ecophagy#ecocide#porosity#femaledeveloper#therodina#portals#futurefossils#dutchdesign#czechdesign#experiencedesign#giuliabini#liviarozsaz
